Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have been a customer of Wired Plastic for 12 years. Then they just totally ripped me off. They never had great customer service, but, in my experience, they were not thieves, either. That changed this past December, 2016. I needed them back then, 12 years ago, because I could not open a bank account, and the company I was working for insisted that I do direct deposit. Wired Plastic mocks up as a bank, so you can use them for direct deposit. As I said, they will never win any awards for customer service, but they delivered their service as advertised, enabling me to work and get paid. They would sit on my pay for a day, but then release it all. The standard ATM maximum withdrawal numbers applied, but that is how these things work. Then, in December of 2016, I loaded my Wired Plastic Visa card, went to make a purchase, and was declined. I called Wired Plastic Visa Customer Service and got a string of surly, obnoxious company representatives who had obviously been instructed to concoct some asinine fairy tale about my card being put on a security hold. No matter what I said, they would not relent.

Despite my repeated phone calls, they would not budge. Then they demanded my social security card and my driver's license. I pointed out to them that I had provided these documents 12 years ago when I opened the account. Again, they would not budge. I stated that if they had lost my papers, that was their issue and not mine, and that I wanted the money released immediately. Still nothing. I finally got relief by calling Visa Corporate. Visa initiated a 3-way phone call with Wired Plastic and they tried their same stonewall tactics, but Visa said they would open an investigation into the matter. Lo and Behold, 2 weeks later I get a highly apologetic phone call from Wired Plastic, with a BS story about some alleged transaction in Wisconsin involving my card, which is why they froze my account. Whatever... They released the funds and sent me a new card. Needless to say, I keep the card but I do not use it. PS: Their parent company, The Bancorp Bank (NASDAQ: TBBK) has been repeatedly been investigated for money laundering. Draw from that fact whatever conclusions you like, but be aware that knowledge is power.
