First let me say that I am very very upset while writing this report so please foregive spelling errors and grammer

I purchased Zodiac Flea and tick remover (quick kill) at Petsmart In richmond virginia on 11/13/04 as well as there zodiac foggers to get rid of the fleas that my cat and dog had accuired on a recent outing in the country.

Upon my arrival at home i procedded to read the instructions throughly which state (exactly as written on label) "For control of fleas, ticks, and lice on dogs and cats, dilute 4 oz of concentrate with 1 gallon of water. Sponge on animal, making sure hair is throughly wet to the skin. for control of ear mites, lightly sponge inside of ears. do not rinse. Towel dry. repeat application weekly, if necessary"

After reading these instructions i measured 4 oz of the product and mixed with a gallion of water, I proced to sponge down my dog a redbone coon hound which i toweled dried with out rinsing product out. My dog had no reaction to the product. I then proceddded to do the same to our family cat.

Approxamtly 45 mintues our family cat tigger begain to convulse and have sezuries as per the bottle of product (exactly as written on label) "100% Satisfaction gaurnteed. In case of an emergancy or for product use information, call 1-800-950-4783 or visit our website :www.zodiacpet.com"

I Immedatly called the number listed per there instructions and recived no answer on there end. I called my vet after reciving no answer and zodiac who informed me to call anamal poision control at 1-888-426-4435 who informed me that the cat should be taken to a vet immedatly. I contacted the 24 hour vet in my area and informed them of the situation and that i would be coming in with a cat, They informed me to bring in the product so they could see it.

Upon my arrival at the vet the vetrinarion immedatly exams our family member and determins that she is having a reaction to a chemical in the product used called "pyrethrins" Which apperatly is well known that this chemical has known instances of causeing serzious and fetalities from this chemical. Well the vet tried to admisitor the proper counter chemical but the damage was already done. Our family member died.

I find this an out rage that a product that is advertised for use on cats and dogs which has a known reaction with cats not all cats but enough to make it an issue that its not notified to consumers from the product manufacture a caution lable or something that advise that there are known cases of reactions to the chemical "pyrethrins" resulting in sezuries and or death some sort of advers reaction statement.

If i had known i surly would not have purchased something that could possably kill a family member.

So to you zodiac watch out im coming after you and by the time im done i swear to god your gonna wish that you had never been in bussiness or heard of me. i swear that wrongs will be put right and that justace will be done for a lost family member. i swear i a) will not remove this report and continue to up date it about your company B) come after you finaccally as well as i do have a lawyer and will file suit due to your neglagince.

Also this will be sent as a letter via email and snail mail to your company.

I look forward to hearing from you and what excuse you could possable have as to why your product was not suffactly labled with a warning and how you expect my family my 5 year old son to cope with the loss of a chereshed member. so why dont you come to my house personnaly and look into the eyes of the five year old boy and explain to him why tigger is not coming back, but i dont think you have the curage to look a five year old in the eyes.

Lindsey

p.s for all the readers out there if youve read this far i apolige for the spelling and grammer like i said earlyer i am very very upset right now

Zodiac Killed My Cat Too

I too lost a cat to a Zodiac product. My cat went into seazures after being given the "spot-on" product that was reccommended by the pet store employee "I use it, it works great". Not only did the spot-on kill my otherwise healthy cat, but it didn't get rid of any of the fleas. I had to switch to another similar product that my vet recommended. I warn everyone out there these products are unhealthy for cats. There are other products that work without the nasty side effect of dead.

check with your vet before giving any type of flea or tick killer

#9Consumer Suggestion

I am sorry for your loss. I'm sure now you know this, but for anyone else out there, check with your vet before giving any type of flea or tick killer. There are products out there that appear to be unsafe and not well tested. Don't ask the pet store or supply house, ask the vet. He/she will know if the ingredients are safe for use with your companion animal.
