My name is Zella Adkins I'm writting you today pretty upset with your dealership and it's customer care or lack there of.  On February 28th last Friday I came into your dealership and purchased a pre-owned 2013 Infiniti JX35 with my fiancee Kenneth Williams.  As an all cash offer we brought in the check for $13,900 and purchased the vehicle out right.

On our way home from the dealership we put a brand new dvd in the entertainment center just to have it not read and not eject the disc. Then within our 2hr drive home since we live in Wisconsin we started hearing noise in the front end anytime we were on a bumpy road. I called straight in to Eric the Salesman we purchased from and explained what was going on...  He said he apologized about that and knowing we lived so far when would it work for us to come back in and have this taken care of.

He called me the next morning Saturday February 28th and with mine and my fiancee's busy work schedules we set up to come in on Wesnday March 4th to get the vehicle serviced.   I came in on Wednesday March 4th they had me test drive my vehicle with one of your mechanics within minutes he agreed something was wrong with my front end suspension they gave me a loaner vehicle and told me it would probably take a few days to get a new dvd player into the shop.

The next morning I received a call from your service department I believe his name was Jeff stating that the vehicle needed 2 new front sway bar links and a new dvd player. I was told since we just purchased the vehicle not even a few days ago the dealership would cover half the cost of repairs and the repairs would cost $1,850.

I've spoke with Eric in sales Jeff in service and Joey in sales now and this is the best their telling me they can do. I fully understand in Illinois the lemon law only protects buyers with new vehicles purchased but I dont understand as the integrity of your dealership how you can sell vehicles like this to unsuspecting families and be ok with it.

In my opinion when you purchase a vehicle from a reputable dealer you should not have to have $2,000 worth of maintenance needed within the first few hours of owning it!  Not to mention the vehicle was advertised with a entertainment package which is false advertisement it didn't work when we pulled off the lot. As well as the fact with in hours the sway bar links were making noise just on our trip home meaning the vehicle was sold to us broken!

I'm very upset I feel the dealership should do the right thing and repair the vehicle as it was advertised when sold to me or just tell me when I can pick up my vehicle I will take the loss and make sure even knows how your dealership treats their "customers".  I am extremely upset as a mother of 5 I have my children in the back seat if the sway bar links break that affects my steering! As well as part of the whole reason I purchased a vehicle with an entertainment center.

The Dealership Is Fixing The Vehicle Very Appreciative Of Them Doing The Right Thing

I fully understand in Illinois the lemon law only protects buyers with new vehicles purchased but I dont understand as the integrity of your dealership how you can sell vehicles like this to unsuspecting families and be ok with it.

- This has nothing to do with Lemon Laws. If you had bought a new car, the repairs would have been covered under the Manufactures Warranty. You bought a USED car "As-Is". Which means that unless you have a written warranty that covers the repair, you are responsible for any and all repairs.

Now, based on your narrative it is apparent that you failed to do any due dilligence in buying the car. You definatly did not have it checked out by an independent mechanic before you bought it. You likely didn't even take it for a test drive, or if you did you didn't do anything more than go around the block. Then even though this Entertainment Center seems to be a critical item in your decision to buy the car, you didn't even test it out before you bought it. Because you didn't put a DVD into the player until AFTER you bought the car.

Then one does have to wonder why you would go to this dealer? You are paying cash, and they are in a relatively small town two hours away from where you live. There are likely several, if not dozens of other dealers closer. Perhaps it is that the price you paid is about $2,000-$5,000 below the average blue book. Which again should have raised some additional concerns as to why that is.

As for the repair, because it is "As-Is" they are not obligated to put anything toward the repair. So the splitting may be about as good as you can get. However, I would also go to other independent mechanics and get an estimate. As even at 50% you may be able to find it cheaper somewhere else away from the dealer.

You Don't Know What You're Doing, Do You?

What is the name of THIS website you are on? Do you know? Is it the web site of the dealership? Of course not! Why did you write this thing as if you were writing to the dealer? Why is it within say 30 seconds of going to the dealer's website did I find the answer to your complaint and YOU didn't?

You signed many papers during this purchase and AGAIN you would have seen you were buying this thing "AS IS" just as it says in the website! "AS IS" consists of two very simple, two letter, one syllable words! Why would you think for one split second, you were entitled to free warranty service on an "AS IS" purchase?

You made a big deal out of saying this was a cash purchase. What would make you think a cash purchase is somehow "better" than a financed purchase? Like I stated earlier, you just don't have any clue as to what you were doing and you didn't even READ what you were agreeing to BEFORE you agreed to it. Oh yes, why not write back something dumb like "you must work for them"!
