Weird termination letter that states violations

Before working for this company as a driver please read! They give very little or next to no training and if you get into an accident due to their faulty vehicles they act as if they don't know what you're talking about. Docgo/Ambulnz/Rapid Reliant Testing does not care about your safety!

On the date of the accident,  March, 07 2022 I'd been working with Rapid Reliable Testing (RRT) AKA Docgo AKA Ambulnz for approximately 2 weeks. I was a driver and my job entailed picking up their buses or cargo vans that had been equipped for administrating vaccines and rapid PCR tests, and driving them to the assigned site for the day. The RNs and LPNs or swabbers would meet me at the site. I arrived at the base (360 Merrick Road Lynbrook, NY 11563) I received the vaccine, laptops and company phone and proceeded into the lot to retrieve my assigned bus for that day.

If you are assigned for DPU you'll drive a bus (relatively the size of a short school bus maybe a bit longer.) MTU vehicles are mostly cargo vans (simliar to Amazon vehicles.) I'd been assigned to DPU that day, I went ahead and did my pre-trip inspection. The bus that I'd been assigned the passenger side mirror was broken, the top part of the mirror was mostly gone.

What was left was taped to the assembly with electrical tape and duct tape. I went to one of the guys who usually helps out in the lot, and I pointed out the broken mirror and I handed him the keys. We walked the lot together trying to find another suitable vehicle for me to drive and there weren't any. Every single bus on that lot had an issue. (Broken passenger side view mirrors, unadjustable seats, broken back up cameras, non functioning head lights.)

We spent quite some time trying to a find another bus that i could use that wasnt...well screwed up. The operations manager Delphina Felicien was made aware of the situation, she didn't have a solution she pretty much continued with whatever she was doing I also told the person who was in charge of handing out the keys (Chessie or Kathy). No one really seemed to be concerned with the state of the vehicle. As a matter of fact I was told that I could drive the bus like that and everything should be fine. Against my better judgement,  I took that bus out onto the road broken mirror and all.

Once I got in i had another surprise, I could not adjust the seat at all so my feet were barely reaching the pedals. My commute to the site that morning was extremely difficult, especially when I needed to change lanes, the only relief was that there was bumper to bumper traffic as I got closer to the site which was located in Manhattan. All of their vehicles are equipped with cameras, on the interior and exterior, they also have audio. I made sure to voice my annoyance the ENTIRE trip about how unsafe it was to be driving the bus that way.

This company doesnt allow phone usage while driving their vehicles, but yet I had the lead for the site contacting me about my ETA and someone else called about my GPS not being on. That was the only time I was on the phone, traffice ended up clearing up as i got on the FDR, I went maybe about 8 miles before I saw there was a piece of of the concrete divider that was jutting out onto the road. I tried to go around it but I must brought the bus back too soon because it ended up hitting it because I had no mirror to use for clearance. The damage to the bus ended up being pretty extensive, scrapes and scratches all along the passenger side one of the doors were broken and the stairs were crooked.

I was pretty shaken up! I continued to drive to the site being that there was no safe location for me to stop being that I was on the highway, I told the site lead what happened as it happened, I didn't have anyones number to call like I said I was new, no one ever approached me and introduced themselves and gave out their number to me. The lead was the one who called Delphina Felicien, before that day I had no idea who she was and I never had her number, after He contacted her she called me and asked what happened and I told her. The site lead agreed with me after I showed him the state of the mirror and explained that I drove to the site that way that the bus should have never gone out the way it did.

Even the RNs and LPNs who were at the site were in shock that the bus went out that way some even suggested suing. Here's where it gets interesting! The site lead was told to bring me back to the base, when I got there I saw the guy who I told about the mirror earlier in the morning, dude couldn't even look at me he was avoiding making eye contact by any means neccesary! He didnt ask if I was ok or anything, Delphina Felicien comes out hands me an accident report to fill out she never asked if I was ok instead hands me a form to sign stating that I wasnt injured.

We started talking about the accident and honestly I got the sense that Delphina was more upset about the bus being wrecked! I brought up the mirror again and she said " I sent you out into the lot with one of MY supervisors and at the end of the day I would never put you into a vehicle that you weren't comfortable driving." Wait. What? because, that's not what I was told earlier that morning nor was I given the impression that I couldve gone down that avenue. To put icing on the cake she asked how come I didn't call her and I told her that I never had her number, I'd only gotten it that day because she called me.

She made a funny remark by saying "But yet you're on camera using your phone." I shut that down immediately because it seemed like she was trying to alude to the fact that I was using the phone while driving. I said yes i was one the phone twice that morning once with the lead to confirm my ETA and again with the guy who gave me that site because he was calling about my GPS being off.

So I get suspended. 1 week goes by, 2 weeks, 3 weeks. Meanwhile Stehanie Peters (who's in charge of scheduling for the drivers) continues to send notifications via the Deputy app about submitting our availability for scheduling I emailed her and told her about my situation. I did that so no one would think that I wasnt just sitting here not sending in my availability. She acknowleged me and said to wait to hear from HR. A few days shy of a month I got a call from HR a Laura Severino who informed me that Delphina was on the line as well.

Delphina greeted me but Laura did most of the talking. Laura told me that after a thorough investigation the company had come to the decision to terminate me, that the decision was final. I was slightly shocked, being that the accident was pretty much their fault. I asked about the broken mirror and why wasn't that being taken into consideration. Laura Severino completely ignored me and continued to speak at times she was just talking right over me, she just kept repeating that the decision was final. She wasn't trying to let me get one word in.

I said "But you guys put me into a faulty vehicle and i'm to blame when there's an accident?"  To which she replied "No, the vehicle is not faulty. It's not faulty. The decision is final, after today you are not to contact any employees and discuss what happened today for any reason." She hangs up the phone. Laura sends me my termination email which surprise, surprise says nothing about my accident as the reason for my termination it says something about my conduct, insubordination and refusal to follow managment instructions and unwillingness and or refusal to pick up shifts. Of course I followed Laura's instructions to the t by filing this report. Immediately contacting  the 5-6 RNs that I became cordial with and telling them what happened.

I LISTENED LAURA I really did :) thanks. Don't drive for this company. Don't do it. I'm attaching a pic of the mirror and letter.
