Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In Feb 2013, as I was trying to get my finances in order to purchase a home, I had to pay off debts originally from Navy Federal Credit Union that had been sold to a third party collector (at that time Cavalry Portfolio). Cavalry had sold the loans to Vision Financial Corp, with whom I was able to make one-time settlement payments to satisfy the debts. I received settled in full letters from Vision Financial in March 2013. I was able to then get the financing to buy the house. Never again has any debt from NFCU or any subsequent collectors shown up on any credit reports nor has any agency contacted me to collect any other amounts. Until September 2020.

Synergetic Communication sent a letter stating I owe a balance of $1735.24 and that they are willing to settle at a discount payment of $433.81 if paid by 11/13/20. It shows Navy FCU as the original creditor and a current creditor listed as USI Solutions Inc. I have the letters from the original creditor (NFCU) showing that the debts were sold to Cavalry as well as the Settled in Full letters from Vision where Cavalry is listed as their client. I attempted twice to call SynCom during their business hours to see why they were sending me a letter requesting payment and explain that this is a closed/settled account for which I have proof of payment.

A recording states it is an attempt to collect a debt and any information will be used for that purpose. Then there's on-hold music for about three miuntes, followed by a voicemail prompt telling me to leave my name and number and someone will call me. Why after over 7 years is this old debt coming back up? Why would they be trying to get money for something that I have proof is paid/settled? Why wouldn't someone answer their phones during their normal business hours at the number they referred me to? Their letter states that I should mail a written letter within 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt but I really do not feel safe sending sending my information and specific financial documents to a company like this under these circumstances.

I did some searching for information about SynCom online and found there were quite a few people who were being harassed by this company over debts that were settled in full years before SynCom sent them anything.
