Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have been scammed by Wyndham Resorts. My husband and I purchased a timeshare

through Wyndham in 2014 but am now retired and suffering from health issues

including dementia and bi-polar disorder and began trying to get out of my

timeshare contract with Wyndham in 2019.  Instead of working with me Wyndham

has repeatedly targeted me--

I have been convinced to "upgrade" my time share several times, the last time in Jan 2020. The agents make misrepresentations and tell me that the only way I can get out of my contract and qualify for the "Ovation" time share exit program is to upgrade and spend MORE money on another

timeshare.  Their agents have been successful in scamming me because my husband

and I are both suffering from early onset dementia and I also have been diagnosed with

bi-polar disorder and have been on lithium for several years.

My son Jeff Miller wondered why I kept getting these large and increasing time share bills

and he got involved and was able to find out the details.  He is helping me to

file this complaint because we are both angry with the way Wyndham has taken

advantage of me.

In 2017 our health began to deteriorate and it became more and more difficult

and too expensive for us to travel.  We began asking to get out of our contract with Wyndham in 2019. and were told we can do so through the "Ovation program."  The Wyndham agents target

us and make unsolicited phone calls to our home.  On these unsolicited phone

calls they tell me they can help me qualify for the "Ovation" program which

would allow me be released from the obligation.  However, my son has verified

that you can only qualify for the Ovation program if you have completely paid

off the balance on the previous timeshare contract.  My son has verified that

on each occasion I was upgraded, I still owed a balance on the existing

timeshare.

The agents who targeted me made blatant misrepresentations that if

I spent MORE money and upgraded to a more expensive timeshare and a larger

financial obligation, I could be released from the entire obligation and they

would take back the time share.  This is a total fabrication, these

misrepresentations were made in order to enrich the sales agents and  take

advantage of us.  The Ovation program only works if the previous time share

balance was paid in full and my son found out that none of the time share

balances were paid off any of the times that I was convinced to upgrade.

I am a senior citizen with multiple health disorders and our financial situation has

worsened due to the economic crisis but Wyndham continued to "target us" and

regularly reached out to try and get us to spend more money.  The last upgrade

was on January 24th, 2020 and we supposedly traded in $50,598 from the previous

timeshare which went towards the upgrade and then the rest was financed with an

obscenely high interest rate for someone with a 741 credit score who didn't

even want the time share in the first place.

We are asking for you to investigate Wyndham and let the public know about their predatory practices targeting senior citizens.  We have asked for a cancellation of our contract and a refund of the monies that were paid toward this timeshare and have been in contact with Wyndham, but they have been dragging their feet for several months and keep making excuses. I have stopped making payments to them because they scammed me and now they are bombarding me with collection calls all the time.  I need this nightmare to end!
