I am the Maintenance Director of a large Senior Living community. I was called by the night staff that the front foor lock had come apart. I didn't know by their description over the phone if the lock was broke, missing parts or what so I called 2 of my locksmith contacts. After no/delayed responce I searched online and found 24/7 Quick Pick Locksmith Service. The website said it was a $15 service call and gave basic rates of $35 for a variety of services, I called, told them my problem, they said a tech would call me right back. Sure enough less than 10 minute I was called by Daniel. He said he could meet me at the property in 15 minutes. When he arived he said the service call was $20 and the base labor fee was $45. I didn't argue that the $25 web price was now $20 and the $45 seemed overall reasonable, I said ok after all it looked like all the parts were all there, and nothing broken. Daniel proceded to work on the lock as I watched I thought it was straing that he kept moving in front of what he was doing to block my view. I moved, he moved. Not just once but several times, OK so he has secrets to protect. After fumbling with the lock cylinder trying to realign it with the latch bolt mechanism he proceded to use a vice grip to hold the thumb latch and the trim ring. He gauld the finish of the black trim gouging it in several places so the silver metal shows and now looks like an old pop top bottle cap. After he finished, less than 15 minuted, he produced the bill stating that he charges $49 to realign the schlage lock set. I thought ok, $49 instead of $45...Nooooo, on top of. So the final bill was $114, High for what he did, low for an after hour locksnith service call. I don't begrudge what he charged Just how he charged. I made a point to let him know. I would have kept him on my vendor list for this property and others, but because of the decieving practice of how he priced the job, I will not!. Buyer beware.
