I've joined 247downloads and paid a 1 year membership fee of $22.80 US. Downloaded the software, read the help file/manual and tried multiple times to get it to work without any success.

The file finder would go on for ever and ever... no success. Did everything mentionned in the troubleshooting section. I must have downloaded the software a dozen time and tried a multitude of setting combinations. Being a programmer myself I know that sometimes it is only a question of tuning and settings. But when it does not work it does not work!

I emailed them 2 times for help. In the troubleshooting solutions, they specified what I should ask for, but beleve it or not ! NO REPLY. After 3 weeks of trying and retrying. I got pissed off, I quit, and sent for a refund ...

well!!! I am still waiting for and answer.

24/7 is no good without good Usenet access.

Although someone could make the case that you got ripped off while trying to steal music or software, I won't go there. All this site is (along with others that claim to point the way to unlimited downloads) is something that instructs you how to access Usenet. You probably already have Usenet access wiht your service provider, although serious downloaders generally purchase a premium subscription for $10-20 per month. (Giga News, EasyNews, etc. are some of the most popular. The Usenet access that comes with AOL is pretty much worthless). 24/7 is no good without good Usenet access. This information is free to anyone, and the most common Usenet reader, Xnews, is free also. FYI, rather than try to use a file finder, you're better off manually searching the different groups.

What I found out from URL Investigator of alltheweb.com and/or alta vista is that the site went through a change December 23, 2003. That change could possibly have been to remove certain specifics of contact information. The only name I could find connected to the site is Elshan Haldabah. I am still not sure if this is accurate. Most unfortunately, I have now confirmed the one and only address is a "drop box". This is not the physical address of 247's office or corporate headquarters. It is just a little box that you pay a monthly fee for at Mail Boxes, Inc. Here is how the contact information reads for what it's worth: 24/7 Downloads 620 Park Avenue, #313 Rochester, NY, 14607 The above address is posted for Administrative, Technical, and Billing contacts. Mail Boxes, Inc. 620 Park Avenue Rochester, New York, 14607 24/7 Downloads Phone: 1-585-234-0406 The "585" area code is available in all States, so it is not possible to pinpoint, but the "234" prefix number is specifically for NEW YORK. Frontier is a telephone utility corporation that handles this specific prefix. They might not be the only ones, but all others would be in New York. They also provide Internet related services for home businesses. You can have a multi-network of computers connected to run a small business out of your home. Hmmmmmmmm..... For what it's worth here's a Fax: 1-585-325-5591 I might be able to help you further if you call that number. It could just be a professional answering service, voice mail, but if it is a live line to collect a refund, please let us know. This would help other potential victims. I would also recommend reading their "Legal Agreement" very carefully. It's a three page document printed out. I haven't had the chance yet. Get back to us when you can. Rip-off Report Volunteer
