I ordered an Apple MAC POWERBOOK G4 computer. ALong with this computer order, Tom the salesman asked if I wanted the 3 year Applecare Warranty. I am very familiar with the Applecare Warranty since I own other Apple PowerBooks. I stated yes, since I wanted the "Applecare Warranty" Tom charged me $350.00 plus 4% for shipping the Applecare Warranty. I received the Powerbook G-4 and a Warranty that is not the "Applecare Warranty" which Tom quoted me over the telephone. I checked into what the company sells and they do not sell the "Applecare Warranty". I wrote 5 STARS ELECTRONICS customer service an e-mail and requested to be allowed to return this waranty tehy sent me for a refund. They wrote back and told me to call their customer support number to get the issue resolved.

I did as they instructed and was told this was a better warranty than the Applecare Warranty and that Apple would still talk to me on my concerns regardless of what warranty I had. The person I talked to refused to give me an address or an RMA number. They told me that all purchases on extended warranties are final.

I wrote them again and have not heard from them concerning this issue. The salesman, Tom at 5 STARS ELECTRONICS outright lied. He was specific when he asked if I wanted teh Apple Care Warranty. Through deception adn lies Tom conned me into something that is less than acceptable. I have not opened this warranty they sent nor do I want it since this not what I ordered.

they use intimination to scare away customers that have legimate complaints

I followed up by sending the report I filed here with your site to 5 Star Electronics, the culprit in this case. I appreciate the suggestion from a person that reviewed my filed complaint. As I read the reply I noticed that there was another report filed against 5 STAR ELECTRONICS. In that report the author has a similar complaint against a salesman named TOMMY. I surmise this "TOMMY" is the same person (TOM) that called me a liar and gave me a terrible time on the telephone. This TOM tried to make me feel like an incomptent and stated I knew exactly what I ordered and openely swore at me. I strongly feel there are many out there that are getting ripped off by this company and they use intimination to scare away customers that have legimate complaints. They surly do not care about follow up business nor concumer relations. Thanks for the space to explain my situation.

Call Apple

#3Consumer Suggestion

Thu, September 02, 2004

First, I'd call 5 Star back and tell them if they don't refund my money I'll call Apple and explain to them what 5 Star is doing under their name. It's probably illegal from Apple's point of view, trading on their name and trademark. That might get through to them. Then I'd call Apple anyway. Since their wannabe warranty is the pits.
