On 7/20/07, I called around for estimates on cleaning & preserved boxing a wedding dress. I contacted A-1 Cleaners & a lady gave me the price of $150.00. After shopping at Pets Mart next door, I decided on this store & the lady from the phone unzippered my dress bag & gave me a cost of $160.00. I said that I just called you 10 minutes ago & you gave me a price of $150.00. The lady can't remember ever given me that price & said we have a set price of $160.00 for cleaning and boxing.

With that said, I said thank you & started zippering up my dress bag. There was a gentleman (probably her husband, I did not ask) behind the counter who tried to save the sell & got me to stay. As the lady was trying to put me in the computer, another customer came in & they both greeted & brought the client her cleaned goods. I agreed with the final cost of $160.00 & as she gave me a receipt for 50% deposit, I charged it to my credit card $80.50 & saw that the price went up to $169.00. I asked how it changed again now to $169.00 & she said that is the price. I understood it for taxes and/or surcharges so I did not complained. I asked them to please call me when done cleaning so I can inspect it before you box it. They said that was fine.

2 wks later on Fri 8/3, I receive a call on my cell phone that I did not recognize. They called 3 times. On the 4th call, I decided to answer. They asked for some other name. I said you had the wrong number. He said if I had a wedding dress, I said yes but that was not my name. He just said, oh, well your dress ready, you come by and see it. I went to the store & I looked it over & asked if they can do better but safely w/out ruining the dress. Mr. Tae was there & after hearing me out, he said fine, that they will try it again & call me when done.

I did not hear from them so I called them Mon 8/13 & asked if my dress was ready. She put me on hold & after about 2 mins, came back & said to just come back into the store that they will have it ready by then. Came in & it was much better & I was happy. Now that it's cleaned, when can it be boxed, I asked the lady. Mrs said that it would be $50.00 to box. I showed her the receipt & explained she already charged me. She said no, that the $169.00 price is for cleaning only. We argued back & forth regarding this. They have all their prices in a computer behind the counter so I always had to ask what cost what.

Also, another name of Sparacino, M was on the receipt. I never noticed this as again, I thought it was a ticket number or tag name that they locate their tickets by. The lady said I gave her this information. I have no idea where she got that info from. I contacted my husband because I was in too much shock that they would treat me this way so he came by & tried to resolve this. After about another 10 mins of going no where, we decided to contact the Wood Dale police. Officer Matthew Nelson and his partner tried to reason this whole situation out and came to the conclusion that this would have to be resolved as a civil matter and in order for me to get my dress out of there, I would have to pay the remaining balance of $88.50 without the box or pay the additional $50.00 to have it boxed. I paid the remaining balance $88.50 to get my dress out of there. I was in tears going home because I just could not believe that they did this to me.

When we got home, we noticed we did not have receipt. The officer failed to return to us and assumed it was the cleaner's copy so placed it on their counter. My husband went to pick up the next day and cleaners gave him their own copy with my cell# writing on it. That is not my copy. My copy did not have my cell# on it and it stated on the bottom customer copy. Cleaners told my husband, that is the correct & only copy. I requested Officer Nelson to pick up and he did couple days later, which we now have. As you can see, once again they are lying. My purpose was to get my beautiful wedding dress professionally cleaned safely and have it preserved and boxed and instead I paid double the price to clean a dress that I could have paid $60-$80 near my home. I feel very used and taken advantage of and am seeking your help and/or advice to resolve this matter. Please help.
