Like many other gullable people, I contacted A Professional Move after they were referred to me by an internet help source. I had quite a bit of correspondence with them before agreeing to use them for my move from Texas to Illinois.

All of my emails had been replied to within a 24 hr period and Irena, the associate from the company working with me, was always pleasant and helpful. I sent her a very detailed list of my things and she had an estimate for me by the end of the day. I had arranged for them to move my things on 10/15/04, and was given a confirmation email the day before stating what time they would arrive that Friday.

The night before the movers were due to arrive I received a phone call around 7pm. It was the driver from the company asking me if he could come get my stuff at that moment. Not only did I still have a few things left to pack, but I informed him I had plans for the evening and did not expect them until the morning. After three or four more attempts to get me to give in, I stood my ground and told him I would see him at the agreed upon confirmed time the next day.

They showed up on time the next day, and were ready to put on their show. When it was all said and done not only did my items suddenly take up and extra 200 cubic feet, but I had to fork over an extra $250 in cash for a long carry because of the stairs that I submitted in my original estimate. Add to that a ridiculous cost for supplies, especially when I packed everything myself, and you get my new total which didnt resemble the estimate one bit.

After some poor math on the driver's behalf and his even poorer handwriting, there were about four different balance due amounts. My things finally arrived in Illinois TWENTY DAYS after they were picked up. What is more humorous is that they went from Texas to California and then to Illinois- never getting weighed nor having the actual cubic feet measured.

We paid the driver for my things with the help of the local authorities who stood by to ensure all of my things were received. The driver had a different balance due on an envelope containing my paperwork, wich was double what the BOL stated inside.
