Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company sets you up for failure. Their stringent, arcane reportprocess senses and haphazard documentation all but ensure that you as a tutor will fail to get the paperwork right. And when you don't, they will refuse to pay you. They will claim that you have made mistakes that warrant your not getting paid. They will say that the districts demands are to blame, but they do not even report your information to the district.

I made a mistake by not obtaining signatures for the hours I initially reported. I then sent in forms with signatures, but these they refused Because they were not on the correct forms. I got them to send me a link to the correct form which is not on their website, and obtained signatures again. I then submitted all paperwork for two months. The form for initial pretest sessions was sent in with hours, and paperwork for all other tutoring sessions, just as I was instructed to do. After a month of delay in payment and no alert as WTO what the hang up is I called To see what was wrong.  At that point I navigated to the person in charge, and left three messages for her. She denied getting the messages and failed to contact me for 3 weeks. When I did get her on the phone she sathe all 62 hours of my work were "docked" or were not going to be awarded. The reason she gave is that the rest of the hours after the pretest hours were to be reported on a seperate document, and that document was not included in the orientation package, nor was it sufficiently mentioned in the orientation materials. It was barely alluded to in a single sentence under the heading of an entirely different document. In other words, the document to report the bulk of hours is buried in fine print.

Their phone protocol is illegal. They refuse to put you through to any principals, and put you on hold, frequently, and are unprofessional in their responsiveness.

I think this issue is widespread and they are bilking thousands of dollars from tutors all the time. My hope is that someone will take this up with me and investigate and sue this company in a class action lawsuit representing their whole list of tutor employees who have been ripped off.

I can understand your frustration with the Academic Advantage but in your complaint, you failed to mention that you were brought on as an independent contractor and that you were not an employee.
