Active Periodicals DISHONEST SCAM RIP OFF all accurately describe Active Periodicals BUYER BEWARE Deerfield Beach Florida
I too join the unforunate group of people that feel scammed by Active periodicals. Today, I tried to cancel my subscriptions after only a month because I was unhappy with the publications I chose.
I called the company at their customer service # 1-800-553-7633 and was told I could not cancel. I was told that if I cancelled my credit card, I would still be charged for the magazines and/or reported to a collection agency/credit bureau.
I figured out that's why you have to include your social security number when you sign the release for the joke of a watch they send you!
When I disputed with the customer service agent, she hooked me back to the taped recording the day I ordered the magazines. They went over them pretty fast that day on the phone. I didn't realize that only ONE magazine is offered for 36 months. The other "free" magazines last only for 12 months and then stop.
I remember specifically asking the first agent, not the person who verifies all the information, that I COULD cancel after the first month if I was not satisfied. I felt assured she wasn't lying to me, so of course the verification tape does not have that information available.
These people are scam artists at their best. They represented 36 months of magazines when in fact that's not what your are getting. When you add up your monthly payment, it's way overpriced for what you are actully getting - even if you do calculate the newsstand pricing versus subscription rates.
In turn, I plan to write each magazine personally and inform them their magazines are being sold under false pretense and encourage them to cease distribution thru them. Secondly, I will write the Attorney General's office and the BBB in Florida state.
