Movers Doug arrogant and hostile scamming for money on the side

Juan - quiet - never said anything

Pat have talked to on many occasions June 30th and several times sincedid try to diffuse the situationsaid all the things she thought needed to calm the customerscreened the calls I made

I requested a moving quote from Lufkin Tx to Tomball TX on June 30th. I spoke to Wanda (co-owner) about our move. I explained that our household furnishings and my classroom items were in 2 10x 20 storage units. They had been there since the end of April. She wanted an idea of what we had and I gave her a brief rundown of our house. I told her I could not remember everything. She asked how many boxes we had and I could not give her an accurate number. She said that was fine.

I reiterated that we had 2 10x20 storage unitsstuffed with all our belongings400 squ ft full of furniture and other items. I told her about our prior move with a 24 ft truck and how everything would not fit. We needed a BIG truck.. She offered a 32 ft truck and then a 40 ft truckfor the same costI was still not sure if everything would fit but we agreed upon a price of 830.00 and the 40ft truck.

She was well aware of my thoughts on whether the truck would be big enough or not. We also talked about a stop in Diboll, TX to pick up more items and negotiated a price of 905.00. This stop did not work however, due to the truck size and the corner it could not negotiate. I asked for this quote in writing but never received it. I made sure that they realized that we had a 2 story house and gave a description of where items were to be placed. (Masterbedroom downstairs, livingroom down, 2 upstair bedrooms, 1 upstairs gameroom, 1 upstairs exercise room)

I talked to Wanda many times prior to the move. Each time I reintroduced myself and went over all of the particulars of my move. I ALWAYS emphasized the amount of items we had in the 2 10x20 storage units and how packed they were. The price was always the same and she was never able to send me a written quote.

I called to reconfirm our move on the 29ththey gave me a few moments of panic when they could not find my move on the calendar and Wanda was out of the office. They found me and reassured me all was well. They would be leaving Houston at 8a arriving in Lufkin @10a 11a.

June 30th I received a call from Doughe and Juanwere already in Lufkinthey had a job in Longview and stayed in Lufkin the night before. I met up with them at 930a. They did not have the 40ft truck. They had a 32 ft truck trailer. It was not what I had requested. They also had a manifest that showed items for a 10x20 storage unit 1 UNIT not 2.

They said that Wayne the owner said that I only had 1 unit based on the manifest that Wanda gave him and therefore did not need the 40ft truck. He also told the movers that it was too expensive to stop in Diboll. I advised Doug of what I had negotiated and he called Wayne an idiot and Wanda a dingbat. He then advised me that they do not take boxes and other furniture upstairs. I would have to pay them extra. They would leave all boxes in 1 location.

It was a very stressful day of me calling the company and no one would ever call me back. Doug started trying to negotiate me paying he and Juan on the side. He also started talking about leaving items that would not fit. He made me cry on several occasions and I told him that I did not appreciate how I was being treated. I was a teacher and a Christian and did not need this arrogant attitude and uncaring treatment.

We finally made it to Tomball without of a storage unit. They started unloading all my items not taking time with boxes marked fragile. They dumped my microwave on top of a box with framed pictures. A movie hutch with glass doors was broken. Various glassware was broken. A Yankee Candle was broken. A 20 slotted video case was broken. I tv cart has a crack along the side of it. I am still unpacking items and assessing damage. (I have thrown away several of the broken items not thinking about the fact someone might want to see the damages.)

Doug had written a new price list. $980.00. He demanded payment before they finished unloading my furniture. He then talked to me very demeaning and how I threw a Christian attitude at him and cried to get sympathy. I can honestly say that I am a fairly strong person and I had the roughest day a person could have from these people and this company. The owner would not call me all day long even though I left many messages.

The situation became very hostile and felt the need to call my husband to come home from his new job.

I have since called several times to no avail. Pat has promised to send someone over to take boxes upstairs and that never happened. I feel that we paid for a service that we did not receive. What moving company does not take boxes to where they belong? Why did they not bring the bigger truck? Why did the day have to be that stressful? I gave the information requested of me and they did not fulfill their end of the deal. We still had to go back for the rest of our belongings.

UPDATE:

I have contacted them...wanting to send a letter and a list of our broken items...they did not want me to email it...their computer is down...they did not want me to come by the office ...they have a big dog in the front...I have spoken to Pat several times and she would say that they would send someone to help me move the boxes to other rooms...never happened...

Should I file a claim on the CC to dispute the charge? I have never done that before...I hate to pay them for a job not done well...we have items broken and they do not want to even talk to me...I can not get the owner of the company to call me...it is the owner's wife that misquoted me...funny thing...I talked to her many times before the move...she gave me the wrong address...even the wrong name of the company...now that I am moved I can not ever catch her in the office and they must not have given her any of my messages...

I am a very detail oriented person...I was a travel agent for more than 12 years and have been a math teacher for the past 3 years...I try to dot my i's and cross my t's ...I have a hard time believing that this company is not just the biggest scam...They say that they have been in business for 19 years...one of the movers mentioned the day of the move that they usually have 3 moves a week that are like mine...and he is just on 1 crew...they acted like they had multiple crews that work daily.

Please help me with this...if there is nothing you can do I understand...I just hate for people to get away with things like this...

Recieved a call from the Owner today. He received a letter from the BBS. He said he was not aware of ANY correspondence between myself and his staff since the day of the move. I told him of several conversations with Pat. How I was on the phone for no less than 30 minutes each time. I told him that I had wanted to contact them... wanted to send a letter and a list of our broken items... Pat did not want me to email it... the computer was down... she did not want me to come by the office ... they have a big dog in the front... I told him that I have spoken to Pat several times and she would say that they would send someone to help me move the boxes to other rooms... never happened... He basically wanted to rehash the entire incident... I finally asked what we could do about restitution... I was tired of talking about it!!! I have sent an itemized email with prices and links to the best matches to the items that were damaged or broken. He said he would get back with me on Monday or Tuesday - the 14th or 15th... Here is the email that I sent... I do appreciate your calling me and not ignoring my complaint. I came up with the best idea of pricing that I could...matching the items that I own to those that I gave you links to. List of items damaged from move: Video movie case - (((ROR redacted link))) 20.00 Oak Hutch - scratches on shelf - does not shut correctly since move (DVD CASE) (((ROR redacted link))) 185.99 Glassware - various glasses, cocktail type I am not able to just go in and buy one of this or one of that... am not looking high end... ormal shopping prices... (((ROR redacted link))) Luigi Bormioli Water Goblets - Set of 4 - 19.99 Luigi Bormioli Tumblers - Set of 4 - 14.99 Yankee Candle (((ROR redacted link))) 22oz. 21.99 Dining room table... he guys took it apart and we had to DELICATELY put it back together... leg is damaged where it fits into the top... Chairs have scuffs and knicks... hey stacked 2 chairs on top of each other... If you pay to have them refinished... you may as well buy a new dining room set... I priced refinishing a month ago... 100ish for each chair... 300 for the table .... then unknown price for stabilizing it... you can go to: (((ROR redacted link))) for an idea on prices... I did not see our set of course... closest would probably be... (((ROR redacted link))) only in a lighter wood... I have polished and polished ours with Old English trying to cover up the scratches and scuffs... they had pushed the table top up against the garage wall... then proceeded to stack things in..around...and on top of it... then they THREW - I saw this... the legs on the floor of the garage... sort of a pitch ... then they proceeded to stack anything and everything on top of the chairs... Formal dining room hutch... door does not shut correctly... I watched them manhandle it onto the trailer... I stood and made a point to tell them to be careful bringing it off the truck... Not sure on cost of fixing this.... Here are a variety of china hutches and their prices... (((ROR redacted link))) This is the closest match... (((ROR redacted link))) I think you can see why I am so upset... things are damaged ... some were damaged beyond repair... others I have done the best I can on restoring them... or I am being extremely careful when opening or shutting the cabinet doors... I tried to give you the most accurate account on the items that I could... We also have the mileage/gas for the return trip to Lufkin... 3 vehicles... and we are not talking about little Jetta's... 2 dodge diesal 4x4 - 1 yukon xl... roughly 125 miles on each vehicle roundtrip... when I last calculated mileage we were using 35 cents a mile... I would think that it would be more than that... I am talking 7 yrs ago... at the rate I said we are looking at 262.50... this does not even cover the stress... and all that went with this
