Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
About two years ago this company told me that they had 2 different amounts that were given to them to collect by a mobile phone/pager company named Cell Page. I asked if they had any records/proof of this debt and they referred me to the Company - Cell Page.

After about 3 months of communicating with the billing supervisor at Cell Page (she went on vacation, then she was out sick and then she just needed reminding to look for the record) it was finally concluded that I didn't owe the debt - that it had in fact been paid and it was an error by sending it to collections.

After several weeks ONE of the amounts dropped off my credit report. Being patient, I waited to see if the second one would drop off. It didn't so I contacted the company to find out that they were Gone Out of Business. No surprise - it was a shotty operation at best. But the problem was that Advanced Recovery got down right nasty with me when I explained to her that both of the accounts were supposed to be removed. She said that the only thing that they could do was take my money to pay the debt. I told her that if I owed it, I would pay it but it was so unfair since I was promised that it would be removed. And that the fact that one of them were removed was evidence that Cell Page told me that they would have it removed. She continued being nasty and I later found out that she went back and ADDED the one that had been deleted. I think that should be illegal and I plan on finding out.

The two debts together total $100. If they would permanently remove the stuff from my credit file, I would consider paying it just to avoid the continued frustration - because they will get it back the treatment they have given - no doubt. But I just cannot bring myself to pay it because I don't owe it and I was promised that it would be removed.

WHY???

Dispute the entries to the credit bureaus. Go to the FTC website and file a complaint as well as the AG's office in Alabama AND Mississippi. Write a cease and desist letter to the collection agency explaining exactly what you have explained here and tell them they are not to contact you again regarding this false debt (send it certified mail, return receipt requested). Good luck.

Removal of Collections On Credit Report

If you did not recieve a letter within 5 days from the credit bureau about the reinsertion of a deleted item than send them a letter to remove item because you were not notified. Have Cellpage send you a letter stating the accounts were paid. Then send copy to the CA demanding immediate removal or you will file a lawsuit for FDCPA violations. If Cellpage won't send a letter then send a dispute letter to the credit bureau to verify or delete. If the CA is out of business then they can't verify.
