Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have been using the Advanta Business Card for a couple years now, with a low APR of 5.99%, then 13.99% after the introductory period. This was acceptable. The APR is now 26.31%.

Seven months ago, there were a couple of unauthorized charges from China. I never been to China. I called to report the charges. I had to fax forms to them, which I did. They sent a new card with a new account number.

I received letters stating that the charges were valid. I called only to have them tell me that my card was swiped in China. Again, I told them that I never have been to China. Eventually, after a few calls, they agreed to reverse the charges.

A couple months later, they reversed the charges. What appeared online was different from the paper statement. I called to find-out what was going-on. The representative insured me that everything was OK. He did not explain what happened. He just say that I didn't need to worry about it and everything was OK. I tried to verify the transactions, but he did not want to verify them. He did say to ignore the transactions listed online; saying there were issues with their website. I asked to speak to a supervisor. He said nobody was available. I called back several times and sent secure messages. The secure message replies said to call customer service. I was getting nowhere.

My complaint was that they did not issue the proper credits. I believe I was charged interest for the reversed charges and the transactions were confusing. They changed my account number and I was receiving statements for the new account number and did not receive a final statement for the old account number. They transferred the old balance to the new account number as a balance transfer. They did not charge a fee, but somehow when they changed account numbers, my payment was posted a two days late. I was then charged a $39 late fee and my APR was increased to 26.31%.

I called to have something done about the APR increase. The representative said they sent a letter regarding the increase. I did not receive a letter. I asked if the interest rate can be lowered. They said: "not at this time" and to "call back at a later date to have my account reviewed again". After reading similar complaints here, I don't believe they will do anything different at a later date.

I am not sure to what extent I am being ripped-off. Their customer service poorly provides explanations for their activities. They always blame their website for errors. I have never been able to reach a supervisor. I will keep trying, but feel that I need assistance in dealing with this company.

FDIC has nothing to do with regulating banks and credit card interest rates.

http://www.fdic.gov/help/faq.htmlWhat does the FDIC do? The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) preserves and promotes public confidence in the U.S. financial system by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000 (through December 31, 2009); by identifying, monitoring and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the economy and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. Regarding the notice of credit card interest rate increase, you probably did receive it but you probably threw it away thinking it was another promotional offer for credit card payment insurance, i.e., deferment of payments for up to two years.

FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) wants to hear from you. Must punish Advanta's CEO Dennis Alter, Pennsylvania Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) wants more rip-off-report against Advanta Bank. Last time it was reported they have over 800 complaints by the Advanta bank card holders. FDIC just needs 200 more filed complaints in order to take big giant action against the Advanta Bank Please do your civic duty and report this crime to FDIC. Remember, Advanta Bank is regulated by FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation). They can close down any minute; they just need more complaints by you. Here is the website link: https://www2.fdic.gov/starsmail/index.asp It is very easy to fill-out the form at FDIC. It takes less than 3 minutes of your time. They are very close to knock on door at ADVANTA HQ in PA. It is time to expose Advanta CEO Dennis Alter. If you do not report, Advanta scumbag CEO Dennis Alter will get away this type of rip-off from small business folks like you. Dennis Alter should be jailed for his crime.
