Advantage Van Lines RIP OFF SCAM BOOKED MOVE - DID NOT SHOW - CANCELLED WITHOUT NOTIFICATION Hunts Point New York
Advantage Van Lines gave us a quote for a move and then never showed. I called daily to confirm the week before and to get a time. The assured me the move was booked. The day before the scheduled move, I called again and the let me know they cancelled the move due to not having a truck in the area and that someone was supposed to call but must have forgot
When I tried to book another company at the last minutes, I realized Advantage had greatly under estimated the weight (which was subject to change after the truck was loaded and weighed). The next quote was 50% more in weight charges. The way they word the quote states if the weight is wrong, they charge extra by the pound and a much higher rate than the estimate.
If the additional cost wasn't bad enough, I spend hours on the phone with long distance calls to local companies in the area the move originated from, trying to find a way to be out within 48 hours of a house that was sold and had to be vacated. Also a new job was waiting in a new city.
The cost, the phone calls, the frustration, was more than anyone should have to endure at any time much less during a stressful relocation.
My advice to you is STAY AWAY FROM ADVANTAGE VAN LINES at all costs.
I wish there was a way to recover some of what I lost but nothing will ever releive the stress.
