Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I received a call from Steve Davis, who appeared to be a Sales Mgr.  His approach is smooth, as he said that he called me because of the financial articles that I write weekly in our local paper impressed him. and thus he liked my writing and wanted to feature me in his magazine at an affordable rate.  It sounded too good to be true and it was!  Several things that he told me were all lies and their contract does not state what they are guaranteeing.  I was told that aside from a one-page ad, I would receive several monthly spots on Spectrum TV, as they own an interest in that company, that magazines would go out to many of the local Country Clubs and be placed in Whole Foods and Jensen Foods.  They gave me the impression that I would be writing a column each month in their magazine.  They have since denied any promises, however,  they wanted me to pay the balance of the contract.  Since I had not heard from them about these promises, I called them yesterday and Guadalupe, a clerk, wrote down my grievances and turned it over to her manager to call me back. She  (Annie) did.... then she became very adversarial and accused me of making it up...told me that I was being recorded...started arguing over the payments going forward, ect.  I have never been disrespected or spoken to so rudely.  She had me so riled that I called her a FB and hung up on her.  Today, I get al call from the company offering me a $220 discount annually to pay in full on the 15th.  This lady in accounting was very nice and I requested a copy of the magazine with my ad in it before I made that decision.  They have some ambulance chasing atty. and will most likely sue me for the $1750 balance. They have a system going to target small business. there sales people do not even work for the company, thus they act like they are not responsible for what the salesman offers or lies about. This company knows all the tricks to pull in a small business owner, with no numbers of distribution, lies about where these magazines are placed and no promise that they will even keep your ad in for one year. Their contract is set up to collect most of the annual fee before the first magazine goes out. Beware, you may be the next victim.  The stories against this co. are all the same.  I am calling all the Chambers in Coachella Valley to alert their members. Thank you Rip Off for providing this service, I wished I had check them out before signing. Just another disappointment and frustration to go through when you are working so hard to make it!
