On 7-27-2011, Afficient Towing towed my son's vehicle from Mesa around 6:30 pm.  There were eye witnesses.  My son came out as he heard this horrible sreeching sound.  The car was being not being towed in the correct manner to save any damage to the vehicle.  There were skid marks around two blocks long that were on the drive way coming into the complex.  See the attached photo.

After contacting the towing company the next morning, approximately 15 hours after they towed it away, we were told that there was $57 due for cleanout and miscellaneous.  When we arrived at the firm a few  hour later, they informed us that there was another $100 due.  We paid the requested amount and asked for a receipt.  They would not us one but said we could write down the amount tey had verbally given.  It appears that there would be money laundering here.

When the car was reclaimed, it was nearly undriveable.  The shaking and lack of control made it very difficult to drive back to Mesa.  A mechanic was contacted and he said there was a totally bald spot on one of the front tires.  Those tires were new.  After explaing what had happened with the towing, he confirmed that was the reason for the worn spot.  There were eye witnesses at the complex where the car was towed and they claimed that the operator did not mount the car correctly for the towing.  They should be held totally responsible for any damage.

Towed or Repossessed

I was wondering if this vehicle was repossessed or impounded for illegal parking. I want to guess repossession,  because you mention property retrieval. If your son's car was repossessed because of missing a car payment, then  it is his responsibility to pay for new tires. He was in default on his loan with the bank and they hired a repo company to recover their collateral. As long as the repo co. did nothing illegal they are not responsible. I would read the fine print on the back of his sales contract. It has a clause for default and the banks remedies for this situation.

It sounds like the repo company did what it was hired to do. As far as your witnesses are concerned, it doesn't matter. The repo company did nothing illegal. I understand you may be embarrassed by the situation, but please report all of the facts before you slander some company that is doing their job to recover the BANKS property.
