As inadvertantly explained in an article on smartmoney.com titled "For Whom Ma Bell Trolls" dated March 6,2006: "But if AT&T is allowed to bulk up and become the largest telecom operator in the country not to mention sole owner of the largest wireless operator, Cingular, which it currently co-owns with BellSouth you can bet its ramifications will impact more than one industry."

"Me", First of all, these are bottomfeeder junk debt buyers and debt collectors. They ARE NOT "Customer Service". These are amateur attempts at skip tracing in an attempt to locate the original debtor. These AFNI punks are absolute idiots and overall scumbags. Second, they already had your phone number captured in their system if you called a toll free number even if your number is unlisted, blocked or private. They pay for this service. The person you were talking to was just lazy/stupid and it was easier to ask you for it. However you were correct in not giving them any information. NEVER call, or speak to ANY debt collector on the phone as there is absolutely no proof of the conversation. DEMAND everything in writing. Only communicate by certified mail, return reciept requested. be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records, as this proves what you sent. Then when you have to sue them later, you have already documented your case. Immediately, by the means above, send a DEBT VALIDATION request. DO NOT sign this letter, just print. Clearly dispute this debt and DEMAND to see the original signentract that created the alleged debt, as well as a full account history and itemization of charges. Also demand proof that they have the legal right to collect the debt, and if they claim to own it, DEMAND copies of the purchase contract, proof of payment, and chain of title. Now, when they fail to respond you sue them for the frivolous collection, credit damage, defamation, etc. Be creative. Don't get mad, GET PAID!!
