"African Star" Prepaid Phone Card Phone card ripoff Atlanta Georgia Nationwide
I purchased a $5 phone card and attempted to call Italy, only to end up being charged for a call that didn't even go through. I called customer service, only to find an a pre-recorded message stating: "Thank you for calling....., I can't read your call, therefore I'll have to release the call, thank you for your business..."
After three calls, I realized that it was a prerecorded message, not an actual customer service rep. I called again, and to my surprise--there was an actual live person on the other line.
I explained that I had attempted to call and get through, but couldn't connect. Nevertheless, the balance on my card kept going lower and lower. The customer service rep. refused to refund the funds, despite the fact that I did not get through to the other line and speak for a second.
Despite repeated attempts to get a refund of my balance, they have adamantly refused to refund the $5 that I lost. My attempts to get their web site was futile. I am sure this company operates somewhere in a Hispanic location abroad (judging by their accents).
Please refrain from ever buying this phone card! It's a shameful scam!
