A.J. Spencer My Husband and I published two books with A.J. and had a contract. After helping produce a third one that she took to a festival in Massachesettes we no longer got paid. We were told to stop contacti Adrian, Michigan
After publishing two books with a legitamate contract, my husband and I were asked to help produce a third that A.J. Spencer was going to take with her for sale at a festival in Massachusettes. She took our work and printed the book without giving us a contract for it. We had seven other contracts with her and had been working with her for months. After she came back from the festival she no longer would take our phone calls or pay us for our work. SHe claimed she had only sold two copies of the three different books that we helped produce, and yet she opened a new store front and hired a liason.
When we tried to contact her in person, she filed harassment charges and told us if we stepped foot on her property again we would be charged for trespassing. She cancelled the remaining seven contracts, three of them for children's books, and never returned the work to us.
She threatened us, kept our money, and our work. Then tried to say that we stole from her because we sold copies of our book to others without her permission. IF it was our free copy why should we need her permission?
I am currently looking for a legitamate publisher.
