I recently moved cross-country from New Jersey to California. My new job paid for the move and recommended that I use Door 2 Door moving since they had "pods" that could easily be shipped cross-country. I worked with Door 2 Door to schedule my move. They told me that in Jersey City, NJ we had to have a professional moving team come in and load the pods. That cordinated with Albert Moving.

Although the movers showed up late they were very friendly. About 3 hours into the move (a long time for a 1 bedroom apartment) the movers started hinting towards the idea of a tip. I am normally a very generous tipper, but it really made me uncomfortable that they were starting to directly ask for money.

They loaded the pods and were getting ready to leave. I was so irritated at the amount of time it took to load a small amount of items along with the tipping issue that I did not tip them. They drove away and then came back asking for money saying that they deserved something for their work. I said, I offered to feed you and gave you and your men plenty to drink.

They left.

When we got to California, we started to unload our pod. We noticed two damaged items. The first was our memory foam matress that the movers rolled up and wedged into the back corner of the pod. The matress ripped in the center, which rendered it completely unusual. This was not damaged during the move, but during the packing process. The second damaged item was a custom cut piece of glass for my vintage coffee table. All they did was bubble wrap it. By the time it got to CA it was shattered into a million pieces.

I call customer service to file my claim and got sent through to 6 different people before getting to speak to the correct person. I filed a claim for $600 to cover the cost to replace the damaged items all I recieved was $36. That number was based on the insurance I put of the pods (which was the max amount). They refused to reimburse the rest of the amount.

I am very disappointed and am now dealing with back problems because I cannot afford to replace my memory foam matress pad at the moment.

I do not recommend this company to anyone.
