I first contacted Evan at All Steel Buildings around the 20th of February this year after seeing his ad in a local ad paper. I was looking for a steel building to put on my property and his prices were way lower than other ads in the paper. I was told this was a special price, that they normally save for contractors. He quoted $8,860 dollars for a 40'x62' building including freight! This was less than half the price of much smaller buildings and a thicker gauge (I was told) than the competitors.

I was told that the special price was only for a few days and if I wanted to lock in on the building at that price I better hurry. I was restless for 2-nights and called thinking I might have missed out. Evan told me if I made a small deposit ($215) the building would be mine. I made the deposit over the phone with my visa debit card. Evan told me he would send me the Engineers drawings right away so I could bring them to our County Permit Center to start the Permit process which takes 6-weeks here.

On 3-3-2006 I received an envelope from ASB Inc. thinking it was the drawings.... instead it was a sales agreement for me to sign and send back and a price list for optional parts for the building. I called Evan immediatly and he said "I'm so sorry Frank, I sent it overnight the same day the sales agreement was sent! I'll resend it right away!" Then he asked if I had mailed the sales agreement to him, I told him "no" because I wanted the drawings he had promised first to get the "ball rolling"

He said again "I'm so sorry Frank but the drawings can't be sent until the sales agreement is received because they are expensive." I was upset because he had not done what he said he would do. I then said.... "forget it, I want my money back" he said "I'm sorry Frank but after 3-days your deposit is non-refundable" it was past 3-days. I cooled down and agreed for them to pull $2,000 more from my account and mailed the agreement back. Leaving a C.O.D. balance of $6,640.

The next week I was looking over the paperwork and saw "customer budget for steel or wood to bolt around doors windows etc. to customize both open ends." I thought "what the heck! this building does not include the front or back walls!" I then called Evan again and was told they would custom engineer the ends but they are not included w/building. (when I first contacted him he worded it like... " we will custom engineer the end walls for you including up to 3-doors" so I'm thinking cool 3-doors w/ building!)

I really freaked and told him I was going to contact my bank to get my money back and again to forget the whole thing. He said if I reversed the funds that he still had the sales agreement and it was a legal contract and they would take legal action to get their money. Evan then mellowed me out by saying it was only about $180 each for their cheapest ends, Later he knew nothing about the $180 ends. Again I felt bound to follow through with the purchase. Evan told me the building would be here the last week in April.

I had made numerous calls to Evans extension and cell phone with no returned calls to answer my voicemail. I then called back ASB Inc. and tried every extension available only to reach voicemail at each number. I had one of the new ad papers and noticed an ad similar to the one I originally saw with a different phone number. I called the number just to see if it was Evan and guess what!?!?

It was Evan (I recognized his voice) I said "Evan?" he sounded surprised to hear from me on this other number while all I could reach was voicemails at the one I had for him. He told me he had just gotten out of the hospital after a car accident and he was going to call me soon. I still had not rec'd my drawings and he said they tried to send them but they were returned! He would immediatly send another set.

Well, 2-weeks ago I finally rec'd the drawings and took them to the Permit Center the next day. I was excited to finally start the 6-week process. The people at the Permit Center looked at the drawings and said they were not "Engineer approved drawings" they were "manufacturer approved" now I need to hire an Engineer to do my drawings!

The building arrived today it is good steel but besides missing the end walls they also did not include the inner flashings that are needed according to their instructions. The driver that delivered the building had lots of "horror stories" from other customers.

Why do sales people like that have to be so deceptive?!?! I would never recommend this outfit to anyone, I feel ripped off and am sad that I was lied to.

If you read this Evan.... I hope you are more honest with your next customers! I sure wish I had Engineer approved drawings and the inner flashings. Also I asked Evan in the beginning if I needed caulking for the seams and he said "no." On the first pages of the Erection Guide it tells that buildings 40' wide and more need caulking.... Gee Evan my building is 40' wide! I guess its almost a building considering all I need is 2-15' tallx40' wide walls!!!

Thanks for teaching me a lesson in learning Evan.
