to IAMGOOD - get real - these debts are charged off, bought for pennies on the dollar and inflated to idiotic amounts - been there done that - sued one of these idiots and WON yet have not been paid my judgement for a debt that I PAID OFF -

As for law suit's - you mean lawsuits??? Please - they usually file bogus suits without notifying the "debtor" to obtain false judgements against them - so as for the just pay your bill guess what - there is no reason to pay a bill that is 100% plus more than the original debt

People get into debt for all sorts of reasons. Perhaps the debt is the result a hardship of which you know nothing.  A comment "just pay the debt" is a thoughtless and callous remark from an unthinking person with little compassion.  Most people pay their debts when they can.  Those that deliberately dodge creditors will be served by karma.

Consumer debt collection agencies frequently violate fair debt collection regulations and use abusive, threatening tactics designed to intimidate and humiliate their targets.  There are cases upon cases of investigations of these companies that resulted in the dismantlement of agencies found to be using illegal practices.

Unfortunately, there are not adequate regulatory resources to oversee this industry and these illegal practices continue unchecked.

So, before you go making general statements to consumers about the righteousness of the actions of debt collections companies, perhaps you should acquaint yourself with the current state of that industry.  Also, consider the possibility of extenuating circumstances in each case of which you are unfamiliar before issuing commands to "just pay the debt."

This is a letter to Budd Hibbs, and all others out there who owe money.

Collection Agencies can be quite a bother.  Their goal is to harrass you, and nag you into paying a bill that, I might add is more than likely rightly due.  The occasional bill that is sent to a debtor by a agency may not actually be owed, however this is usually the exception to the rule.

Most Debts are sold to a collection agency after 6 months or more of non payment.  By the time the debt is sold, the account is usually charged off by the original creditor.

Collection Agencies MUST take a hard line with the debtors, as they have either refused to pay, or have been unwilling or unable to make some kind of reasonable payment arrangements with the original creditor.

I have talked to people who owed thousands of dollars to creditors, and they were upset because the creditor refused to accept 20.00 a month to pay off a debt, claiming that is "all they can afford".

Ignoring a Collection Agency demands for funds, in some states can result in law suit's being filed, and your possessions seized, including your house, bank accounts, automobiles.

If you owe money, just pay the bill.

Sloppy record keeping, failure to validate at every level, under-trained, uneducated collectors SEVERELY lacking in Fair Debt Collection Practices Act training. Intellirisk must be making BIG bucks in collecting because they sure don't spend it to insure they comply with the laws. Student loans with these idiots is a nightmare. Most Allied collector's don't have a clue in handling even the most basic of consumer complaints. Loans that have been paid, in the wrong names and outdated credit bureau reporting are fast targets for lawsuits because Allied is unable or unwilling to respond. If you receive a collection notice from Allied DISPUTE IT! Even though you will never receive a reply, it is important that you use the law to your advantage. Allied aptly fits the saying ; "the right hand hasn't a clue what the left hand is doing" Brain-Dead! Idiots! Untrained! May I state again....THANK GOD FOR THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT!! Someone in Washington must have had a dream about companies like Allied to enact the law. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! WATCH YOUR WALLET, YOUR CHECKBOOK AND YOUR CREDIT CARDS WHEN DEALING WITH THESE SLIPPERY CONS OF THE COLLECTION WORLD, THEY WILL EMPTY YOU OUT!
