John: I am a mortgage broker (NOT for Ameriquest ) but on my own. The 'race' box is actually required by HUD so the gov can keep track of minorities getting loans. This way they can see that they are NOT being taken advantgage of. The loan officer HAS to put in race, or he wont get the loan . You can refuse to reply, but the loan officer has to put it in. I bet your loan was negotiated over the phone, or he s/he ticked the wrong box. It has nothing to do with the actual loan itself. As for ameriquest STALLING the cashing of the check as a back door way to rake in more interest, its against the law. They cannot charge you a nickels worth of more interest once they got it in their hands, unless they made a reasonalbe attempt to clear the check and it bounced . A judge wont buy the 'we need time to clear the check' routine where it opens up a can of worms to hold it for 30 or 60 days, making daily interest in the process. Why didnt ameriquest give their banking info to title so it could be WIRED into their account anyway? In the end, go to a scientist , and get a futuristic proceedure that enables you to ERASE every single memory you ever had of Ameriquest, and move on with your life.
