America Online ripoff AOL ignores cancellation requests and flat out rips people off. Internet
I thought I would give America Online's "Free Trial" a try last year, since I thought I could cancel anytime. Well I had AOL for about 4 days when my computer monitor took out, and needless to say I no longer needed the service, so I called the company to cancel. I talked to a fairly polite woman who said indeed she was cancelling my service and thanked me for using AOL. I forgot about it all, until about 3 months later when I received a billing notice. I became red hot with anger and called the company and told them to cancel NOW, I wasnt being Mr Nice Guy then. I finally got it cancelled (I hope) but now I am receiving threats from AOL to send me to a collection agency... Go ahead send me, Con artists, You will be getting your subpoenas as well. Everybody stay away from AOL, they are con artists that don't care about their customers. If anybody out there continues to be billed by AOL, I advise you to contact your Attorney.

AOL messes up your (PC) computer how to get the software off.

If you had used AOL software on your PC computer and have recently decided to remove it make sure you do the following: (Note: I am not a computer expert, just telling you what I had to do to get my PC computer back up and running and make sure the software was completely removed from my computer after I didn't want it on my system) If you remove AOL software by going to the "Add remove programs" file and hit remove "AOL" you would think it would be gone. Wrong! AOL hides a folder of there software deep into your computers hard drive. First Place to look: Go to start, My Computer, and then the programs folder. You will most likely find an AOL folder hear. You will have to find away to delete it off your system. But wait, after you do that (with my own pesonal experience) it magically re-appears. I found out AOL does something to the registry and you have to go in there and delete it from the registry. If all else fails and your computer still won't work right and it won't remove AOL software you will probably have to do a system re-install like I did. Note: I have a Gateway computer and older system, still running on XP 2002. You might have to do something different. But it's a place to start. Any discussion you have with AOL re: billing request anything they tell you in writing. Not by e-mail, regular mail with AOL corporate stationary.
