American Home Shield Rip-Off Carroll Iowa
American Home Shield is a gigantic rip-off and needs to be investigated by the U.S. Attorney General for fraudulent consumer practices. I have attempted on two occassions of using the service for home repairs with extremely poor outcomes. The first event involved a water leak from my hot water heater which damaged the lower level of my home resulting in $6,800 in damage. I was told that I would have to wait 3 days before a technician could be dispatched! I ended up calling another company who arrive within 2 hours to repair leak. American Home Shield refused to reimburse me for the service call because they did not authorize the repair. The send event occurred a few days ago when my home A/C unit failed to cool. I contacted American Home Shield and they sent a technician who stated that the compressor was locked. American Home Shield refused to cover repair costs because they said it was due to poor maintenance. I contacted another company for a second opinion. They said the compressor was locked and needed a part replaced. Once replaced they A/C unit worked fine. American Home Shield again refused to pay the cost of the repair. Needless to say, I am cancelling this bogus service. What an aweful rip-off! How can a company like this exists?!!
