Less than two weeks ago, I received an unexpected phone call regarding American Income Life Insurance Company finding my resume on "Monster". I have been searching for a new position for a very long time and it was refreshing to hear from someone instead of applying and hoping for positive results.

The call was from Andrea at the Harrisburg,PA office. She seemed interested in having me go to the Plymouth Meeting office for an interview.

After discussing this for some time, we figure that it was probably a 2 hour trip for me , but I was willing to give it a fair shot.

She explained that it was a managers job, not a sale position, which sounded even better.

She said that I would be responsible for 3-5 sales agents and that I would have to coach and push these people.

It was explained to me that I would have to meet 2 times per week for meetings. Each meeting would take about 2 hours or so.

Now Add that to my driving time both ways and it did seem to be a long day. However I figured that Hey, if I have to do this only two days a week and that the rest of the time was mine this is really not so bad. She told me to think about it.

I talked it over with my family, they seemed to think it sounded alright. So I called her back to no avail. the following day we made contact and officially set the appointment.

All through this I still wondered what was the catch?? But I tried not to worry about it.

Nonetheless I made the appointment for the following Tuesday at 10:15am. She said she had to be at the Plymouth Meeting office and that we would probably get to meet.

Needless to say I was really looking forward to that day.

Well the deed was done. And let it be said that no good "effort" goes unpunished.

I left on a very rainy and miserable day. I had to take 476 (aka Pa turnpike).Visibility was terrible and with the car beginning to hydroplane and limited ability to travel at normal speeds.

At this pointI I became quite nervous.

So I took the chance that I may not reach this Andrea because she should be at this other office, but I called anyway.

I asked if there was any chance she was in. Lo and Behold, she was there. This really confused me. Why wasn't she at the other location.

She asked me how I was - I told her that I was concerned that I would not get there at a reasonable time.

She dropped the bomb!

"Oh didn't they contact you"? she said. "No. I said, contact me about what"?

They cancelled the interview. If dying were an option I would have taken it...I siad they did what??!!

I was beyond furious. Speechless I just kept telling her that I just don't know what to I drove in inclement weather for about 1.5 hours for absolutely nothing!!

They also took it upon themselves to reschedule for the following day. I had an appointment that day and could not work that in.

Nothing like that has ever happened to me in regards to an interview. I cannot say that I have ever encountered such a non-professional company that sold insurance.

I was flabberghasted.

Now I will say that Andrea was very nice. But now she seems so conveniently out of the office each time I tried to make contact.

I think these clowns should be ashamed of themselves. I mean let's face it if the interviewee ever pulled a stunt like that and never showed for an interview they would probably never get another chance.

I went on this interview because I let the rest of the world have bill to pay. I wasn;t looking for a *$#@!! field trip.

As someone else on this cool site once said if you get the call ,

RUN!!!!!( but run like you're on fire!!!

I did not read anything like that in the add above...
