I used American Knight movers as they outbid the other moving service I had estimating my apartment at the same time. AK did their best to insure they got my business as I was moving from Houston, TX to Dayton, OH. I should have known there was a problem from the get go when the issue of shipping my car happened. Their original quote of $595 to ship my car seemed low but they assured me it was correct and in writing. Their car mover assured me of the price as well and then vanished to the wind. A new company had to be found and AK tried to cancel their moving me 3 days before scheduled pickup instead of trying to fix their mistake. We found a new car hauler at $795 and AK paid $100 of the additional cost and tried to make me sign a new contract. I refused. They showed up on time to move me after I told them if they quit their contract I would come after them for damages and did an excellent job packing up my apartment efficiently. In fact, I was quite impressed with the way they did it and felt relieved about the move. My car arrived in OH hours ahead of me days early the same day I arrived in. Our belongings got here a few days past the original estimated delivery but still a week ahead of schedule. The nightmare began when the two hispanic male drivers unloaded our stuff. Items that had survived a cross country trek didn't survive the process of being put into our home. We had just bought a new house and this home had been repainted nicely inside by the bank. The movers tore up the walls, sheetrock, door frames, and doors to the tune of $3,500 in structural damages moving in items. They damaged another $5,400 in personal property at full value. In fact, with witnesses, the older hispanic male of the two kicked the box containing my 60" LEDTV causing damage to the box and the TV and I yelled at him on the spot for it. After I spoke to AK about it after the drivers left, they spoke to the drivers themselves. The older male driver called me back threatening me and using foul language. I informed AK of this and they had me get an estimate for the damages and apologized. When they saw the amount of the estimate they made me go through CSI Pros, their insurance company. I filed this claim 5/20/15 and it's now 8/12/15. I have had to threaten both AK and CSI to get anything done. CSI apparently doesn't have insurance adjusters and quite illegally, in an email, asked me to obtain my own adjuster to help them out. That's not ethical or legal. So at this point I am filing a FMCSA complaint, a BBB complaint, and filing for arbitration under the Carmack Amendment with the AMSA for the full value of my property under the law and not the 60 cent pound weight I signed a contract for. Beware of this company and avoid them at all costs.

They caused $18,000 damage to my furniture. I sued them in California small claims for $5000. I won. They want to play games in order to pay me. I am in California and they are in Texas. They are refusing to pay my damages unless I jump thru hoops with the court system to get the judgement approved for Texas as a Sister State Judgement, I did that, they are still playing games. It has been over 2 years of this crap. I want them to pay what they owe> I need their bank account to go after my settlement

I won the max amount of my small claims lawsuit against American Knights Moving. I sued them in small claims court in OH and was awarded $3,000 plus costs and interest. The company felt they owed me nothing and sent an attorney in from Columbus to try and bully me into settling for far less before the hearing and I refused. The judge saw things my way. This is far less than I'm owed because of the court jurisdiction allowance but this is better than nothing.
