This company hires work at home employees /contractors. Anyone wanting a position with this company has to pay 10.00.You have to go through there endless hours of training and when you are done with training you are promised to be put with one of their client companies doing data processing and clerical work.

After the long process of typing ads all over the internet and people paying the 10.00 fee then you go to one of their client companies. But you will be doing the same thing you were doing with the previous company just taking less money from potential employees/contractors and you are paid less if at all.

This chain of companies are very misleading. They do not give you a data processing job they simply have you go spread your name and email address all over the internet looking for employees and taking their money.

You are never placed with a real work at home position it is a circle of you taking money from others that want to work at home, nothing more.I have been scammed and mislead.

As of today I still not yet have been paid,American secretarial has informed me that I will be paid soon I doubt it.

This type of work at home employment is a total scam and the only way you make a dime is if you get others to pay.I should of stuck to what I always believed in and that was NEVER pay for a work at home position and I did and got screwed.

Now I have no job,and no income comming in.I give up on working at home and will be seeking employment out of my house when my kids start school. It is a shame because 80% of the people that apply at this company are moms wanting to stay at home with their kids.

I have appeared to be ripped off as well by American Secretarial Services. They cashed my check a month ago, but will not contact me when I try to get a hold of the one I sent the money to. The only people who say they are making money from this Scam Firm, are scam artists themselves. I don't know how people like that sleep at night and get up and look in the mirror.

This Company Is In Fact A Scam!

I, too, paid the application fee, only on the misguided notion that this company advertises a money back guarantee! It didn't occur to me until after a month of no response, that this company fools many people on that premise. The company's site states: If for any reason your application is not accepted, your application fee will be refunded. Smart move, scam artist! Because people believe that their money will be refunded, they give it a shot. What I and others failed to realize is that the company simply does not send a response! Technically, the application was not rejected. So guess what? No Refund! It's so sad that in these troubling times -- with so many people around the globe already hating Americans -- that people will do this to innocent families who are struggling during this already difficult season to make ends meet. The only reassurance I have (and other victims should also share this view) is that this scam artist will get what he deserves!

I also have paid my $10.00. I researched this company months before I even thought of putting my John Hancock on anything. I have also researched other work at home jobs and found prices much higher than $10.00.

I admit I was very leary about letting go of my money. But if you were in my position and worked the same job for years and suddenly became physically disabled due to the job, and were told there was nothing else you could do but go on social security, then $10.00 would seem like a lifesaver. So I am not condeming them nor am I recommending them. I am going to stay neutral. Once I could walk and work.

Now I can't walk nor can I work a normal job. But I can't let that stop me. I am to young (36) to let a physical handicap get me down. So if I am out $10.00 then that is my loss and my stupidity. But don't condemn every work at home job opportunity. I am sure they are out there. We just have to dig a little deeper and find them. Once we weed out all these "copycats" and get rich quick schemes. Remember, if it sounds to good to be true then its not.

"TYPE AT HOME" JOBS DO EXIST...JUST NOT THROUGH THIS SCAM COMPANY

I do occasionally get to work at home (telecommute). I am a medical transcriptionist/legal transcriptionist and I am very well compensated for what I do. However, my ability to work at home came to me from my years of networking with physicians and attorneys, NOT from paying someone money to allow me to scam others. This is NOT the way to go.

My advice to anyone interesting in a home-based typing/word processing position is to hone your typing skills. Even the LEGIT companies usually pay by the line, which means you have to break your a*s in order to make any real money. This includes many of the specialized areas. If you are interested in doing medical transcription (a very secure, in-demand occupation),take some classes and sharpen your skills. If you must, start with an outside service and get experience and make all of the contacts you can. That is the absolutely best way to do it. Most of all, after you get a legit home-based typing job, you MUST DISCIPLINE YOURSELF to do the job at hand.

Good luck.

Whom are you accusing of cognitive dissonance?

Dear Editor: Your rebuttal followed my clear disclosure that American Sec. is a scam and that I will have nothing further to do with them. Then by your placement of your not-so-subtle accusation that [someone] suffers from "cognitive dissonance [which]is associated with individuals who are also ego syntonic, or 'you think you're ok, it's just the rest of the world that's screwed up'" people will think that you mean me (Debbie) when your attack should be directed to the writer above me.

I have no such delusions. American Sec. is a scam and I got involved. I have totally disasociated myself from said scam and urge everyone to stay away.

I will do my homework in the future, before I join a company.

Debbie; Newhall, CA

P.S.: Yvette has since contacted me and advised me that we obviously misjudged each other and she might have a legitimate "work at home company." She will advise me of her findings.

Some people actually enjoy being raped. Does that mean we should legitimize it. What you propose is that we open our minds to another way of looking at this situation.

Wrong! Open-mindedness should not equate with empty-headedness. We must be closed to certain concepts.

Oh, and you gave yourself away. You are just sucking up because you want a job. How selfish and self-serving is that? "I must defend these onslaughts upon my potential employer/benefactor so that they will see how loyal I am."

Don't be ridiculous! Who the hell do you think cares about what you are doing. All you are doing is trying to fool yourself. It's called cognitive dissonance and it is a sign of a significant psychological disorder - get help... but you probably won't. You see, cognitive dissonance is associated with individuals who are also ego syntonic, or "you think you're ok, it's just the rest of the world that's screwed up."

Do us a favor and PLEASE let us know where you get hired/placed. That company is sure to be very high on out hit list for investigation. Premise: if they take you, they are folly waiting to happen.

I have followed their instructions and recruited 10+ candidates. When the company failed to pay I sent several letters. I still was not paid.

At this time (11/13)the above referenced person responded to my letter with arrogant verbiage. I responded and apologized. I too am a victim. I will make good any damage I have caused.

I no longer represent this company in any manner, nor am I employed by them in any roll. They failed to deliver what they promised, both on their webside (http://78960.tripod.com/
americansecretarialservices/) and in letters, signed by Ronald C. Nischwitz, SR. Mr. Nischwitz has failed to answer my several inquiries and has not paid what is owed me.

I urge everyone to stay away from this company. Apologetically, Debbie Jensen, Santa Clarita, CA

IT IS A MATTER OF OPINION

#9UPDATE Employee

Thu, November 14, 2002

Look...this is ridiculous. It is a matter of opinion. Some people get ripped off, some don't. A lot of it depends on how much time you are willing to work at it. I have been with them for 4 months.

Granted it is a SLOW process by far the slowest I have been in, but I have also received my $10 plus some for the recruiting part. I am waiting to be placed. Also, a friend of mine that is in HAS been placed doing documents FOR A LAW FIRM IN NY which is definitely clerical last time I checked.

So, it is a matter of opinion on how well you have been treated with the company. It is a matter of how hard you have tried, and how you see things. So, just because it isn't a scam to one doesn't mean it isn't to another and vice versa. Some people don't like it some do. If you don't like it request your $10 back and quit. Simple as that.

Through further email with Debbie I am convinced that she was unaware that this is a scam (at least I have chosen to give her the benefit of the doubt.) She has also told me that she intends to refund the money from the few people that they have already signed up. I truly hope she does.

I responed to an online classified to do at home typing. As it turned out it was posted by someone from American Secretarial Services. I received email from Debbie Jensen in Santa Clarita, CA. However when I refused to pay the $10 up front and indicated to her that I would not pay for job I received another email stating:

I used to be as arrogant as you are, but then I fell of my branch. You'll change your tone when you fall, and fall you will. As I said, I've been there.

Sincerely,
Debbie Jensen
ASSID#77055 "

I then replied to her, explaining that I was not desperate for a job and I included a link to this report. I then received an email stating:

"Please accept my apologies. I am a victim also.

Humbly,
Debbie Jensen"

...and yet this woman continues to propagate the scam and is taking other people's money.

Please...everyone, remember a legitimate work at home employer will NEVER ask you for an application fee or processing fee.

From the research I have done on this company Ronald is the corp. manager , not hte CEO. Which means his statement that he works with them is true because he is a manager not the owner. From my research this looks to be legit. I am not done with my researching yet but I did feel I needed to add my 2 cents about Ronald not being the owner rather a manager.

I did some research and the person that responded to the intitial Rip Off report on this company is not an employee, rather he is listed as the President/CEO of the company. So, Ronald, how about some real information about jobs that are available through American Secretarial Services?

Here's a question or two for Ronald, the happy American Secretarial employee:

(1) How many legitimate jobs do you know of that require applicants to pay $10?

(2) You say applicants are placed with clients once they are trained. Examples, please? What companies have you been placed with, and what kind of work, exactly, have you done? Don't say you can't reveal their names; the hiring of outside contractors is not generally "confidential" information to companies. If you can't provide this info, I'm going to have to assume you're full of it.

(3) You say Victoria's an "impatient trainee" who's got a grudge against American Secretarial? Prove it. Her description of the work she was asked to do (place ads & collect money from others looking for work) is a classic scam that's pretty well documented. Some red flags: (a) you're required to pay money to apply; (b) you're told you'll be placed with reputable, legitimate clients, but no one will say who these clients are.

So, Ronald, prove to me that this isn't a duck...

American Secretarial Services is in no way a scam or rip off. They offer what they promise, and they deliver! I have worked for them almost from the beginning and they have been great and a lot of other employees would state the same facts.

This report was filed as was one to Government Officials, by an impatient trainee. She filed a complaint with the Government via the internet on a Sunday because she did not receive her check. The next day ,(Monday), she e-mailed us to inform us she got her check that day. The complaint filed with the government was likewise dissmissed as they understand that the mail does not get delivered on Sundays! And records showed she was paid as promissed,(IN FULL)! At least not in the USA!

She had completed the training and was to be placed with work through one of our clients. However, due to the hassles she caused by filing such incorrect complaints she was paid for her services and released from the company. American Secretarial Services is the best place I've ever worked for. I earn a good pay and do so from home!
My pay, and to my knowledge no one elses has ever been late other than due to mailing delays out of the companies control,(such as no Sunday deliveries).
