I bought my vehicle in on May 17th 2002, I have purchased several vehicles in my life time and I have always paid my loans off on time or early, but I was told because I had filed for bankruptcy in 1999 that AmeriCredit were the only people that I could get a loan with.

I had never heard of AmeriCredit, I always received my loans through my bank, the only reason I did not this time is I had just moved from Michigan to Texas, I was not established here yet. My bankruptcy was due to medical reasons. I decided not to long ago to get a copy of my credit report and to my suprise AmeriCredit had stated in there report that I was 30 days late six months in a row, and a total of 11 times, I contacted AmeriCredit to find out why they had lied, because I never have been 30 days late, I was told by their Customer Service department that it does not matter when I send in my payment it matters when they post it, and if they post it one day late it is considered 30 days late.

I was also told at that time "How do you think we get extra money, we hold payments and charge late fees". My payments are due the 20th of each month and on the payment history they sent me they have the first payment on May 20th which should have been June 20th, my second payment due on June 2nd instead of July 20th, my third on due on July 20nd instead of August 20th, my fourth due on August 20th instead of Sept. 20th my fifth on Sept 2nd instead of Oct 20th, they have all of my payments jumping around from being due on the 2nd or 20th and they are all a month off.

If you put my payments the way they are suppose to be I paid my all of my payments early. They even split nine of my payments to make it look like I sent them in that way and charged me late fees. I have sent in several payments were they held the checks for two to three weeks then contacted me and told me they were not going to except my check they wanted a money order or western union, they held payment then added late fees, I sent the payment in 14 days in advance then I had to send it western union at a cost of 13.95 on top of my regular payment, when I requested my check back they refused and they still are holding several of my checks at this time.

I never know when I can send a check and when I can not. As I told AmeriCredit they are getting enough off me in interest that I should not have to go to anymore expense for them. I started sending my money orders certified return notificaton, if I do that they receive my payment on Sundays believe it or not, I send them out on Friday they sign for it on Sunday and on Tuesday my payment goes on my account that and Western Union are the only two ways I have been able to get this company be half way honest.

I wish this site would have been available to me before I purchased through AmeriCredit, how can they keep ripping off the good citizens of this United States of America and get away with it, I wish that the Automobile dealers would read this web site and stop pushing AmeriCredit on to unsuspecting consumers.

If you are finding that they credit payments late, send your payment by USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. That gives YOU a record of when they received it and puts them on notice that you are tracking it. The nice thing about doing it that way, you can print the postage online, get free delivery confirmation, and if you request it, the USPS will even email notify you when the envelope was delivered. There are too many crooks and shysters out there to not cover your a*s every which way you can.
