Ameriquest-Argent RIPPED OFF-MADE MORE MONEY ON MY HOUSE THEN I DID ORANGE CALIFORNIA
I refinanced my house in October 2003, I had alot of equity in the home, or so I thought I did. Ameriquest told me they would pay off my credit cards, and I would still get cash back to help with home improvements.
Well needless to say none of that happened. They push the close through as fast as possible, so you don't even have time to think. An old man came to my house at 8:30 pm to close the loan, he was sick and in a hurry. I get up early for work, so I was tired too. He pushed the papers at me in record speed, and then left.
When I got my statement of the close, my credit cards were not paid off, and there was nothing more then a few hundred dollars cash left.
So what did I get? A higher interest rate(higher then the original one I was told, a larger mortgage payment, and a huge pain.
So what happened? Being a single parent, I was no longer able to pay the mortgage, why you ask, because they inflated my income by $1,000 a month
To make a long story short. I ended up having to put my house on the market. Well this story doesn't end there. At the closing of my house I had 7 thousand dollars of prepayment penalties, on a house that was over appraised in the first place. AMERIQUEST made more money on my house then I did.
I filed a complaint with the Attorney General in Minnesota, but that got me nowhere. So what do I have now? Nothing, not a thing to show for a house I worked very hard to keep. Thanks Ameriquest, biggest scam in the country. I hope all the employees that do this scam for Ameriquest sleep very well at night, because they will get theirs in the end.

I just wanted to give more information on my original posting. I am not stupid, and I am educated. However at the time of my refinance, I had just lost my mother, and had missed time from work, I believe that Ameriquest took advantage of this situation, as they always do. I was still reeling from the loss of my mother when some sweet talking guy called and told me they could get me cash fast, to help me with my credit cards and home improvements. Oh I got the cash fast, less then $500.00, not enough to help me get caught up from my bills. I was given a higher interest rate then I was told, the value of my house was inflated, and my income was inflated. I was never told about the prepayment penalties on my home, however they have documents to show I initialed something that said I was told. Remember, my closing was at my home, late at night, and took less then 10 minutes. I fought back and forth with Ameriquest for 2 months after the close on my house, but they don't let the consumer win. Why would they, they could care less. Someones' pockets were lined with my money, and hard earned money, after two months of fighting with them, and being diagnosed with a chronic illness myself, I could not fight anymore. I am mad, and angry about the entire thing with them, and have stopped lots of people from refinacing with them. I talk to hundreds of people every day, and if I can save one person from Ameriquest, I feel I have done well. Please, reconsider before doing business with them. I had another mortgage company warn me. But I didn't listen, thats my fault. But Please save yourself, and your money and go to someone else. Thank you.
