I have been shorted on my paychecks several times! I am not the only employee, as many others have been shorted by being paid for less hours than they actually worked. Maybe once, out of the 3 months that I worked there, they got my hours, and pay right. The owner gave a meeting, where he said, "there will be no more paid lunches". (Anything over 30 minutes was not paid. I thought that this was a fair deal, seeing that we didn't get two 15 minute breaks).

Since that statement by the owner, if I wanted to go to lunch or up to the store for a cappuccino, I had to punch out. This would have been fine if he had applied the rules across the board to everyone, but it seemed that I was the only one that he made punch-out. I saw others going to lunch or to the store down the road, and they weren't punching out. Once I asked the owner (Scott Mendrum): "Is Jake on paid lunches now?" and the owner replied, "Jake is on salary now and gets paid one hour lunches. What do you think about that?". I responded, "I think that's false" (which the owner even said it was false).

OSHA: There is no steel ramp by the dock in the warehouse to unload the trucks. They basically have to get a running start with the pallet jack, and pray they make it over their make-shift plywood ramp without creating harm. The owner will willfully install a defective or bad garage door. One time there was a noticeable hole in the insulation of a garage door panel, and he told me to just cover it up with a sticker. The owner (and other employees) will also quote a price on a product that is well above the product's normal selling price, and then come down a few dollars. This is to create the illusion that the customer is getting a great deal.

Just like the police, any andersen garage door associate, including the owner Scott Mendrum, will lie to the customer to get what they want. When I say customer, I also refer to myself, as I am an "internal customer". Management are basically some people who were arbitrarily assigned to their positions. They are incompetent, because all they do is cuss and swear, point the blame on someone else, and avoid the critical issues. In short, Andersen Garage Doors is a dishonest company!

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, September 15, 2004

Then highlight anything not followed. Proof of things is always a big plus. Then send a letter to OSHA requesting a safety investigation. They will within 15 to 30 days, depending on your state's regulations. Make sure you get a report number. Then go to your attorney general. Bust anything and everything you know. They will meet with you personally to discuss specifics. If you know any consumers they've screwed over, contact and tell them that you're contacting them because you felt they were wrongly influenced and feel they are entitled to know the truth. Consumers love the added touch. If this does or doesn't work, update this report and let us know how things go. If you need other assistance, post that and someone can help you. Good Luck!
