Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In July of 2007 my husband went to Anderson Ford to buy a used truck. He had been very upset because our child was diagnosed with an major illness, and our old truck had been smashed by a hit and run driver. We needed a vehicle right away.

The salesman showed my husband the truck, and in his office looked up the Kelley Blue Book value, which he showed to my husband. Even though the truck bed had 4 large holes and was extensively rusted, the salesman entered it as being in perfect condition, without my husband knowing it. He also added 2 moonroofs, even though it obviously had one. The figure was manipulated until the truck's value was inflated by almost $5,000.00

I found out the truck's true worth by checking on my own with Kelley Blue Book, as well as from Edmunds.com. I also took the truck to 2 areas dealers, who confirmed the truck's value as $5k less than what Anderson Ford showed to my husband.

The tires were bald on the truck. When I went to Anderson Ford, I asked them to please take the truck back and rescind the contract. I explained about our child's illness and our medical bills. All they would do was replace the bald tires.

Then I went to the attorney general's office. They weren't able to help, other than getting the general manager, Tony Holechek, to offer a bedliner to cover the rust. It was an insult considering how much we had been cheated. I contacted an attorney, who informed me that the judge that we would face was very pro-business. We didn't have any money to go to court anyway... So we have been stuck with this vehicle and the payments.

I urge anyone who goes to an auto dealership to verify a blue book value on your own!

Did the rust materialize after you bought the truck? Were the tires bald after you drove it off the lot? The Kelley Blue Book means very little. Most dealers actually use the NADA one and I assume that the salesman showed you the retail price. The retail price is what the dealer is charging regardless of what a book says. Simple explanation is that you didn't check out a vehicle before buying it. The dealer could care less what your personal problems are. He is not going to take it back and forget the deal. He probably was happy that he could get rid of the POS. Next time look around. You probably would have gotten a better deal AND truck from a private owner.
