Andrea Wetherholt bad checks Ripoff South Shore Kentucky
This person, Andrea Wetherholt, is responsible for defrauding not only me but a great number of people over the past several years. She writes checks on a bank account this is closed.
In September of 2004, she sent and order through the mail for $241.75 worth of merchandise from my company. I shipped the merchandise. The check was subsequently returned by the bank stamped "account closed". When I tried to call the number she had left, there was a "No longer in service" message.
Surprisingly (and brazenly) enough. She is attempting to do it again. In today's mail (June 9, 2006) I received another order from her ($231.25). Same bank, same checking account number. (Fifth Third Bank, Hillsboro Ohio (937) 840-5353). I called the bank, and indeed this account is closed.
I have done a small amount of research on this. It seems that this person has defrauded a number of people, and she appears to be a professional. She only sends checks to businesses outside Kentucky so Kentucky authorities will not prosecute her. And her purchases are small enough that no one will extradite her. She is playing the system.
I have both her old rejected check, and the current check that she sent me, which I have verified to be no good, including the postmarked envelope that it came in. If I can be of any assistance in stopping this individual, please let me know.
