Anglo American Investors- Anthony Tobin accepted monies from me with the intentions of starting my own buisness. Roswell, Sandy Springs Georgia
I met Anthony Tobin in January of 2007. I sat with him in a meeting discussing buisness ventures of mine that I was saving up for. I wanted to open up a small restaurant that would also be used for catering events. Anthony told me that he was an investor that could definitely assist me. However with my low credit score he would need an upfront investment of $150,000.00 After he received my investment he told me that he would double it in order to get my buisness off of the ground, and that I wouldn't be responsible for paying him back for 1 year. The opportunity was great! In February of 2007 I gave Mr. Tobin $85,000. Then he told me to just give him $2000.00 a month until I had reached the $150,000 goal. I gave him $2000.00 a month up until January of 2009. I then began to ask a lot of questions regarding the actual projection date for my buisness. At this time he began to turn our relationship into one of intimacy. He even gave me a key to his home. I really trusted him as a friend and as a buisness partner. However, mid March of 2009, I visited him at his home, he'd told me that he had to go to China for a meeting that concerned my buisness and that he would contact me as soon as he returned to Georgia. He had not called in a couple of days and I began to worry. I went to his home at 205 Sheridan Pointe where I found the front door damaged. I contacted the local police department out of concern, only to find out that he'd been arrested. At that time I had no idea what he was arrested for. Not until July 22,2009 did I find out that I had been scammed. The last 5-6 years of my savings is gone and I have nothing to show for it. I just want to know why? And how, could someone rob an individual of something that they'd worked so hard for. Hopes, dreams, prayers, all destroyed behind the greed of another individual. How do I start over from here?
