Animal Medical Clinic AMC EMERGENCY VET REFUSED TO EUTHANIZE MY CAT THEN LIED TO COVER HER a*s WHEN APPROACHED BY HER BOSS COOPER CITY, Florida
On a Sunday night my cat was hallowing in severe pain and acting strange. She had thrown up three times since we had arrived home from church and once while we were there so I did what any cat lover would do and took her to the emergency vet what ensued after that was a nightmare!
Upon arriving we were ushered into a room, my 11yr old daughter and I, it was her cat and waited for the doctor (I use this term lightly) to arrive. I work in the medical field and know that doctors are very compassionate and this doctor (DR REGAN) has the compassion of a wet noodle if that. Dr. Regan steps in the room and after examining Boo Kitty determines that the cat has an obstructed bladder and needs to be unobstructed right away and presents me with a $2000 bill to anesthetize the cat and insert a catheter to unobstruct the bladder.
I look at my daughter who is hysterical at this point and tell the doctor that I have lost my job in January and am 6 months behind in my mortgage and cannot afford the bill and need to put the cat down. She looks me dead in the eye and says in front of my daughter and says that due to the cats age (8) and the fact that he is healthy (other than being blocked and this is no guarantee that he will stay unblocked) that DR. REGAN cannot in her best interest put the cat down that she feels that this is inhumane.
Came back with another estimate for work to be done on the cat for $900 dollars and I told her it was still too much money and that I was not going to take food out of my childrens mouths to take care of this animal. I had spent 6 months trying to make ends meet and I wasn't about to throw all that away in one stupid decision so she left again and came back with a $400 dollar estimate. She had taken off the bloodwork, x-rays, overnight stay and we were down to just the bare minimum to ease the cats pain and then I could take the cat. Never once was it mentioned that I could just leave and in the frame of mind I was in with a hysterical 11 yr old it never entered my mind. I PAID THE $400 AND LEFT. Days later I put the cat down to the tune of another $150 and called the original vet to complain about this doctor and try to get my money back at least for the antibiotics that DR. REGAN put BooKitty on when she knew I was going to euthenize how stupid and that cost $60 alone. BRILLIANT DOCTOR!!!
