Let me just get started by saying, I joined this club in or around March of this year. When I signed up I was told that my contract could be canceled as long as I gave a 30 day notice. So I was working out quite a lot, but I do have a baby (who was 14 months old at the time) and 2 older boys. So I wanted to do the tues and thur evening classes. I talked my friend into joining also instead of just coming to the classes. So Steve Riffle (the owner or manager) sat her and i down and told her that she could also cancel her membership also at anytime as long as she gave a 30 day notice. Mind you they were one year contracts but they wrote on the top stating 30 days, which was suppose to mean we could cancel. Anyways, at that time we told Steve that because of me not having a sitter it was hard for me to come in like i wanted to, so he said they were putting in day care from 10-2 and 4-8 because i wasnt the only one complaining about not having daycare. He also said he would be doing a "kids club". So he would tell me every week, it will be in next week. 6weeks later he said "if its not in next week, your membership is on me". So the following week, i called in, no daycare. So I told him I wanted to cancel my membership, he said there is no need for that, because you member ship is on me until we get the day care in.
That was at the end of May. They took out Junes payment, he said that it takes 30 days to get the free membership started and he has it in the system not to take anymore out. So as a percautionary move, I canceled my bank card. So the following week I get a letter in the mail from their billing dept saying I owe them for July, August and over $25.00 is fees for my bank number not allowing the transaction. So i called monday, told the receptionist the problem, she said steve will be here in a few, gave her my name and number. Never heard from him, tried calling the gym today (wed) phone was disconnected, so I drive in there. Telling him he has to call and tell the billing dept to void the $94.20, he said he was going to right there. Then started telling me that its because i cancled my card, then on to say i knew there was no day care, then shoved the paper at me and told me he isnt going to be nice no more and it will report to the credit agencies. I told him I know of 60 women that will attest to his poor buisness management, he then said "probably 60 women just like you, women that dont want to pay their bills". Wow coming from a man who runs a womens gym?!I watched this man go from mellow to verbally violent in seconds, should he be alone in a gym with women?! He also shared my information with a former friend of mine and said my former friend was right about me. What he doesnt realize is that we have spoken and neither have said a cross word about the other. I am going to retain an attorney so if anyone else has been offended or lied to by this man please contact me!
