I purchased a Water Treatment System for my home from the Well Guru 3 years ago. I got his name from a friend, who also was referred by a friend. We all were looking for a water treatment system to treat our well water which is high in Iron & Sulphur which makes the water smell. All 3 of us purchased Eric's system. Eric was prompt in coming out and removing the system I had for years. My old system was curing the smell but since the Chlorinator needed rebuilding every 6 months I sought something that required less maintenance. Eric assured me his system was the answer. I paid him over $4000.00 and he installed it. A few months later I lost all water pressure. I went into the water shed to discover the Chlorinator Cap had broke at the seam. I could not get in touch with Eric and since I had no water to my home I started a search to find a replacement. After visiting all the home improvement stores I found out the cap was not available on the normal market. I then went to my local Pool Supply Company's only to find the cap is not a stock item for them either. When I returned home I thought of my pool pump system and luckily found the cap on my pool Chlorinator was a fit and I use it temporarily, although I now was faced with not being able to run my pool pump. I eventually and through the friend of a friend got Eric's phone number and was able to have him ship me a replacement which I paid for. This happen a second time and since I was out of town it caused my pump to continue to run until the submersible pump burned up costing me another $1700.00 to repair.

The well installer/repair man inspected the system Eric installed and informed me the pieces used in the system were for pools NOT wells and he cautioned me the pressure would continue to break the caps. Well he was right, I have had 3 caps, 1 check valve, and now 1 ball valve all crack from the pressure. I called Eric and he did send his son to repair the problem but at this point I'm not looking for repairs. I explained I wanted a system that is designed for and approved for wells, or my old system or alike system installed. He refuted this request insisting my issues are due to maintenance which is indeed not the case. I am afraid to leave my house for an extended time since if the system fails while I'm away, it may end up replacing the well pump again. His answer to this was to shut the water off when I leave, and if my wife and family are home when I'm not show them how to shut the water off. My problem is not isolated to me, both the friends I mentioned are having the exact problem. Eric told me there was no refund or exchange and further more he would not accept my calls in the future. If I had system problems he said I would need to send an email or text and he will mail the parts. I guess I need to either buy many spare parts, or not shower while I wait for the next replacement part. I would not recommend this system for a well application and would suggest you consider emergencies and where you will get parts when one breaks or better yet, buy alot of jugs of water for when your system is down and your waiting for the mailman

Another Victim:

I am writing this to back up a previous report made by C. r. Florida on 1/17/2013. I read his report about the issues he had with his Well Guru system and the clorinator cap blowing off. I also read the rebuttal by the owner Eric Watson.

The fact is I had the exact same things happen to me. First I was told the Well Guru was the best system around. It was designed by Eric Watson with the best of parts. I was told the water would be better than any water around and it was basically a maintenance free system. Other than adding salt and chlorine I could go 10 years without the need for any service.

Well for starters I had tannis in my water and the water was yellow. I sent Eric Watson a sample of my water for testing so he could "design the system for my specific water issues." After the system was installed my water was still yellow. I went back and forth with him about the color issue and he kept deflecting the situation. I did have to have another well drilled due to insufficient water volume but his system was not changed in any way and in fact the new well had less iron content and better water than the first well. Eric Watson used the fact I used another well to infer I changed his system which I did not.

One day I see all this water out my back yard and learned the cap to the chlorinator had blown off and water was leaking from my system. I too could not find a replacement part and was told it was a pool chlorinator and not meant for pressures of a well system.

Since I had been given the run around with Eric I decided to call another reputable company out to take a look at my system. Here is what I learned. First the parts used (which are good parts) are redily available at plumbing supply places. They were not designed by Eric. Secondly, Eric said the system was good for 10 or 15 years and I learend there is no substance that is used as a filter media that lasts for 15 years.

They media he used (the charcoal) is the same used by everyone and is only good for 2 to 3 years depending on use. I learned the water chlorinator was for a pool. The chlorine tablets for water chlorination really is not meant to purify drinking water it is more for pool use. Lastly, the yellow water was from tannis and the only way to get rid of that was to use a special filter media to take out the tannis.

When it was all said and done it cost me another $1,000 for them to get it done right. I have yet to have any issues with my system.

The other bone of contention was that Eric in his advertising said he uses 1" pipe. When he installed my system he used 3/4" pipe. It was not as advertised. This other company questioned my on why I didn't have 1 " pipe and I told them that was what was installed. They also changed out all the pipe.

I did file a complaint withe the BBB which I knew would not do any good but to maybe alert others of this company. Eric Watson did have a rebuttle to my compaint and like with C.r. Florida accussed me of being harrassing and unreasonable. I can assure you I was not. I was merely trying to get Eric Watson to stand behind his product.

When I came accross the article here by C.r. Florida I felt compelled to back up his situation so others may see that the Well Guru system and Eric Watson are not what they sell themselves to be. I should have know when I asked Eric Watson for references I was told he does not give out references as he does not want any of his customers to be bothered by other people. I can see now why he does not give out references.

I would not recommend anyone getting a Well Guru system unless you want to have issues down the road. For sure the chlorinator he uses is for pool use. I too contacted the manufactuer of the chlorinator and was told the same thing as C.r. Florida it is for pool use. I now have a chlorinator for well use and have not had any issues

Well Guru, Aquatic Filter Systems Blames Everyone Else

#2Author of original report

Tue, September 23, 2014

The response by the Well Guru/Aquatic Filter Systems is a Lie. He knows I have never been in the business of filtration and never will be. I'am a consumer who made the mistake of buying one of his systems. Research and read the reviews for Well Guru and Aquatic Filter Systems (they are one in the same). As you can see by his responses he blames everyone else for system failures or problems. He cuts off customer service and parts if you disagree with him or demand the service one should expect for the prices of his systems. He advertises being the best, his web-site shows the WQA Seal (Water Quality Association Seal) which would lead a veiwer to believe he/or his system have been certified by the WQA and they have not. Below is the WQA's response to my inquiry as to how they would approve a system design like Eric's with-out testing it, I'm sure Eric will have an explaination for this as well.

Hello Jay,

Thank you for calling the Water Quality Association today. We are looking into the WQA Gold Seal Logo being displayed on the following website: http://www.thewellguru.com/, (aka: Aquatic Filter Systems). As soon as we find out more information, I will get back to you.

Have a nice day!

Hello Jay,

After looking into the company further, we were unable to find any link between membership or certification with the Water Quality Association. A logo misuse complaint has been filed. In the future, we list the companies that are in violation on our website here. Consumers can also report misuse on that page as well. I will let you know if I hear anything else related to this company.

Have a nice day!

Ask yourself, why would a company put an industry approval seal on his product if he is not an approved associate? Then ask yourself do I want to deal with a company that calls his customer's liar's, refuses to provide parts because they request them asap when they break (can't buy them locally) and have no water service due to failure, or makes false statements about customers. If so contact the Well Guru or Aquatic Filter Systems or what ever other name he is using today, I hope it works out for you. If not find a reputable company, a national maybe or a local that has a good reputation. I replaced Eric's system over a year ago and have not had any problems what so ever, add salt and have quality water. The company I used is local and has contacted me by phone and mail to make sure I was still satisfifed with their product. The cost was less then half what I paid Eric.
