SCAM! This is the SECOND letter I have got from this company but the name is changed. I just received this letter from ARA (same company as before) from a Samuel Wiser, claiming I owe them 929.56, because my first debt $464.78 was never paid. YEAH didn't pay it because I did my research and It's a SCAM, I paid AT&T 11:29:59 PM over 8 years ago. How they got my current address is beyond me. They are also stating that if it's not paid my credit history and current financial circumstances will be reviewed and evaluated and they we be forced to take action to bring this debt to a legal resolution, in accordance with state and federal law.
FIRST thing, if this debt was REAL it would already be on my credit report and it's NOT! Their ending statement is "We believe you have an important decision to make". Yea, to put you behind bars for FRAUD and running a SCAM on thousands of innocent victims. If ANYONE knows how to take this to the next level, I would love to find out how.
I don't know how to catch these JERKS in their tracks and bust them..... DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME!!! I got into a yelling argument with the fguy i spoke to on the phone from the SAME company, with the first letter I received.
They will threaten you (which they did) to scare you, and the first letter was over a year ago, and they did nothing about it, now their sending me a new one thinking I forgot, using a new name!!

I too recieved a second letter from ARA on a debt I do not owe. I've never had an At&t wireless account in my name. We use At&t now but it's in my husbands name and we pay the bill every month, on time, by auto-debit. We've had this account for quite some time now and I'm pretty sure if we were behind the phones would be off and At&t would have notified us. In addition, this bill is not on my credit report. I plan on sending them a "stop contacting me" certified letter and making a complaint with the BBB.

The first thing you need to do is send the following "Drop Dead Letter via certified mail to these scum bags...
Date
To Whom It May Concern:
I have been contacted by your company about a debt you allege I owe. I am instructing you not to contact me further in connection with this debt. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law, you may not contact me further once I have notified you not to do so.
Sincerely,
(Name)
(Account No.)
If you have a receipt proving that you paid this allege debt; you should also send a "copy" of it to them as well. Never, never, never...give them any financial, employment or banking information even if they threaten to send the police (which is illegal for them to even say something like that) by the way and always, always save your receipts or proof of payment to any collector "FOREVER"!
Good luck!
