I can feel the difference in my truck when i fill my tank when its cold rather than hot; Yes its a personal preference. I already called and reported them. I can addmit when im wrong and will take it for what it is but i cant stand unreasonable people putting me at fault. Havent found out yet.. But wouldnt be surprised if somethings wrong. About a month ago a gas station a block away had somthing wrong with the pumps and caused 20,000 in losses for the station. ---- I measure my tank by quarters or 4ths; theres four lines on my gauge. -hence quarter and a half..So nope nothing missing either way.

All you needed to do was wait for someone else to use one of the two pumps to see how it worked for them. If the next customer was cheated, you could have joined forces but you drove off.
"a quarter and a half from where i started"
That's known as 3/8 of a tank.
"im no naive girl"
Maybe so, but you're missing a few gears.

I've started to read alot lately about people complaining about how the volume of gasoline expands or contracts at different temps and how the gas companies are ripping people off because when the gas expands and the pumps don't compensate for the added volume at different temps. My experience is that ANYTHING that's stored UNDERGROUND is going to stay alot cooler, so "the heat of these California summers" isn't gonna make more then a drop or two of difference in the amount of gas you're gonna get at the pump. If you feel that "cold" gas is better, then go ahead and pump away, in the morning. If anything pumping gas in the mornings IS better for then environment in regards to ozone levels. Some folks are pushing for pumps that compensate for temperture. All that's gonna do is jack the price of gas up even higher. Like those pumps with the recovery systems. The gas companies just pass their costs onto their customers. That said, it sounds like their pumps WERE broken. Call the department of weights and measure in your state and file a complaint. They'll send someone out to check their pumps. If they're "off", they'll shut them down until repaired. Just think about how much money they'll lose by being shut down.
