Hello there, fellow Asia Economic Institute EX-Employee. I too, shared a similar experience as you did while working at AEI... we may have even worked together at some point!
Aside from abruptly being told my "internship is over" with no explanation, I also experienced many of the employee abuses that you mentioned. Most notable was the illegal manipulation of paychecks... as somebody who kept track of my timesheet, I noticed that my paychecks were not consistent with the hours I worked. They frequently paid me for less hours than I worked. They also asked me to come during the weekend on a couple of occasions, when there was no AC in the building, and they never paid me OT for those days. On top of that, they kept adjusting the hourly wage I was being paid. Though we never signed a contract agreeing to employment at any specific rate, I thought it was unfair of them to manipulate my hours and wages so that they could pay me whatever they felt like.
Also, being an employee there was unrewarding. Though Raymond Mobrez was very open to having discussions about various topics, he frequently spoke to his employees with a condescending attitude. He gave use a lot of room to be self motivated, creative workers, but he never gave us what we needed to turn our ideas into a reality. As an employee who was hired into a position to analyze and make decisions, I felt completely discounted. He basically ignored what I had to say, and would go with his own decisions regardless of the approach I took to persuade him.
As far as your allegations:
#1 - He never mentioned anything about hiring based on race, religion or gender. However, he often tried to "explain" to me racial stereotypes that he seriously believed. For example "Asians are great for technical work, but they walk around like their head like zombies with their heads cut off so most of them aren't good for management."
#2 - Yes, absolutley true. I was good friends with their admin assistant and she told me a lot of mail comes with Iliana's last name listed as Mobrez. They also shared the same home mailing address. I understand they have the right to privacy, and this is none of our business as employees. However, they had a strange way of trying to cover it up - like they wanted us to believe that they were not married.
#3 - I believe that Raymond actually wants AEI to succeed. When he would talk about his goals with AEI, he had a very grandiose vision of himself as a web entrepreneur-slash-pioneer in global economics. Though I believe he has a good vision, he is severely misguided about the financial and organizational needs to achieve a goal of his size. He also has flip-flopped about whether he wishes to be a non-profit or for-profit institute.
#4 - They definitely live in a fantasy land. I would tell some stories, but they are unnecessary and may reveal my identity.

I back you up , they are indeed crazy as hell or evil as hell or both. I worked there for a while , and the day i stopped working there was one of the best days of my life. I hope they both end up in jail, or worse.
