ASSOCIATED TAX RELIEF WE PAID $7900, GOT NOTHING. THEY WANTED 18K MORE TO DO WORK~CONTRACT IS A TRICK! Los Angeles California
IT'S ALL A TRICK. Under great duress after a full year of stressful tax audit, we signed up with them to complete our audit appeal. They told us they would do a great job, have lots of lawyers, etc. They took all our money up front, $7900-- a fee THEY came up with -- then they wait. It takes a few months for the IRS to respond to appeal request. When they got notice from IRS about our case, they had the gall to call and say our case looked more complicated than they originally thought (despite the fact that we had explained the judgment to them clearly) and demanded another $18,000 to begin the actual work. We were in shock!
When we told them "no way", and asked to speak with a supervisor, he said they had no supervisors. When I asked for our money back, they said "No, we've already done the work". So I looked very carefully at their contract - they have a chart on it that specifies the percentages they are taking for their work, with 95% taken for the upfront simple acts of information gathering: 15% for reviewing info and processing, 50% to file POA (power of attny - a simple one page form we sign -- 20% pulling transcripts from IRS, AND - you guessed it - the bulk of the work for the appeal 5% (actually that would be 95% of the true work to be done). So they tricked us into paying them all this $ just to get our papers, never planning on doing our work!
Now we don't know if the IRS has made demands with critical deadlines, and are back where we started, only $8000 less available! ANY OTHERS OUT THERE WANT TO DO A CLASS ACTION SUIT WITH US? This is unconscionable, the lowest of the low, getting people when they're under such terrible stress with government pressure and screwing us. LET'S FIGHT BACK - GET STATE ATTRNY GENERAL INVOLVED - STOP THIS ABUSE.
