Beware of doing business at Astoria Federal Savings!

This bank once took $2300 out of my business account, and then said they don't have to do anything because it was more than 24 hours. It was a bank error, even the credit card company that appeared on the transaction statement said it was the fault of Astoria Federal> I did finally get the money back but it was a real struggle.

What makes it more scary is that today I wanted to see a printout of my last week's transactions for my business and personal account. The banker there refused to do it. He also refused to let me remove all my money from the account.

This is very scary. That means Astoria Federal Savings could help themselves to the cash in my business checking account and then say that it's my tough luck I didn't discover it in 24 hours so my money is theirs to keep.

If I stole money from the bank I would go to jail but if they steal money from my business account it becomes a "gift" for them to keep. Very very scary

Wendy, I have been in the banking industry for many years. I have never refused to mail out a print out on someones account. I worked in the call center and if I had a member who did not understand the account history, I would offer to mail it out to them. If you account is in the positive, they have to let you take money out of it. I do not know how much you had in your account, but most places have a daily limit on what they can give, if the amount that you wanted to take out was more than the daily limit, then they can give you a check. I would go back to the bank and speak to the manager and explain to him or her what happened. I am sure that the bank would like to know how their employees are treating the customers. If you cannot get any resolve from the bank, then I would have the manager close my account and then I would get an account somewere else.
