dave, you should at least contact an attorney if you have not already. check out your options. in most cases you have 2 years to pursue this. i currently manage an atl shop and am attempting to help the owner out of the franchise. the so called bus. model is flawed , support is a joke , the guys they have sent out here know nothing about this bus. washed up has beens or never weres. they spend nowhere near the advertising dollars on our area , that they receive from us. most good franchise operations start with company owned shops , these guys only own 1 that i know of. if they really cared to learn how its done , i could show them how to do it right. but i suspect there little sceme works for them , and they don.t care about reputation or the people they hurt in the process. anyone w/ atl problems feel free to contact me (((ROR REDACTED))) i would be interested in sharing information. If ATL's cut had been strictly a % of your gross profit, then they might have made themselves more useful to you. The carrot-dangling exercise ["...(you) would have to move fast if (you) wanted the Clermont, Fl License.... ] was a very negative sign, but sometimes we simply must pursue our dreams. The guideline for going into business 'for yourself' is to pick a business with which you have directly related significant experience. Then you could have picked your own location. Better yet, you would have had a feel for you probability of success with ATL before you ever parted with any money. You did not seem to state your age, so I truely hope you are young enough to have 'make-up time' before retirement looms too closely.
