I started a magazine service with Atlantic Magazene Services, or CRC of Deerfield Beach. They charged my credit card monthly, and were generally easy to deal with and courtious. Then their charges were bringing my credit card close to the limit. I called to cancel it, saying I couldn't afford it, and every time I was told by the representative that they didn't deal with that, and I would be contacted by someone who could.

I was never contacted. A month later I tried again, and got the same spiel, and again was never contacted. I tried again later, and demanded that it be canceled, citing that no one had ever called me back. The woman apologized and said someone would be in contact.

I decided to live with it from then on, since no one would help me. Several months later, last october, I recieved a call from someone stating that they were "my magazine service" and that there were reports from customers that were supposedly recieving calls from fraudulent companies, and they wanted to help me be more secure.

I was not wise, and decided to talk to them. They said they would give me a code to ask for if someone called pretending to be my magazine service. They then asked if I was happy with my magazines. I said "no" and so the man said he would send me a magazine list.

They also said that I was going to be given a chance to try a new magazine for free. I said okay. Suddenly I was sent to a supervisor to confirm information. IT jsut sounded like they were confirming my former contract, which was running out, so I thought everything was okay.

Suddenly I get a letter from Atlantic Magazine Services, or CRC of Delray Beach, But I do not recognize immediately that it is different. I do notice that I am still having attempted charges on my credit card. I try to cancel, but they refuse. I pay, thinking I mis-remembered my payments, and not being able to find my origional contract.

They then lie to me in a phone conversation saying that I owed 30 from my origional contract, and I knew for a fact that wasn't true since I remembered approximately what I owed. I finally found my contract the other day, and confronted them just today.

They give me to an "account rep" who says that they have people check the taped phone conversations to make sure that people agreed to the contract. I tell him that no one ever said anything about a contract or a renewal, and he says he will play me the tape, then puts me on hold. I stay on hold for 25-20 minutes before he finally gets back on, saying that hey don't have the tape "in-office" but he can get it, which will take several hours.

Since he has to go home, he cannot call me today and have me hear it, so they will be calling back tomorrow to have me listen to it. I figure it didn't say what he wanted it to say, so I am interested to see what it ends up being and will update after that.

Please, do not listen to these people. I am certain that CRC of Delray Beach is just CRC of Deerfield Beach, with their name changed. They will lie to you and try to bully you into joining and will not let you drop them.

If anyone can help me free myself from them and 14 more payments of 60 buck, with who knows what else, please do, I feel like my hands are tied in this fraudulent company

I know this update is quite a while after I posted the last one, but here is the result of the phone call I made. A couple of days later I was contacted again by the man I had spoken to. He said that they were unable to find my tape from the conversation I spoke about in my first report, and that they had a way for me to be able to cancel. I would pay for the months of the contract that had already passed, and they would close my account. Now mind you, this was a contract that they had weaseled me into accepting, very fraudulently, and so I initially agreed. I thought that with this I would check my credit report, since they were saying that it would appear on my credit report if I didn't pay, and they did not appear on the report (only because my credit card was way over limit because of them). So I decided not to pay. I have kept a close eye on my credit report, and nothing from Atlantic Magazine services. I suppose it worked for me. It is possible to get away!
