Atlantic Marketing & Logistics Management Secret Shopper Scam New York New York
This company sends you a check and tells you to call them and then cash the check as payment for being a 'secret shopper.' The check is in the amount of $2,970.35. From the proceeds of the check, you keep $450 as your pay. Then you are to send a Money Gram for $2,200 and spend $100 at both Wal-Mart and The Gap.
After you have done this, you are supposed to fill out a form that is enclosed with the check rating the service and overall shopping experience.
I got suspicious because the address of the company is New York City. But the area codes for their office and fax are for Alberta, Canada.
Also, the company name on the check was Dallars Royalty in Jacksboro, TX. I couldn't find a listing for the company.
Why would the company be drawing a check on another company's account?
There are 2 other reports in the Ripoff Report that talk about the same scam. In one of the other reports they mentioned the same contact person: Mike Campbell.
I also received another check for a different company with the same mode of operation, with a Toronto, Canada P.O. Box address and a phone number with a Toronto area code. I called that number several times and no one answered. I can't report them because they didn't provide a company name. Their phone number is 905-598-6373.
