I switched over to AT&T as my long-distance provider following a marketing call from them. AT&T then apparently ran a credit report on me without my authorization, and shut off my long distance service when I had reached $50 in charges. I immediately switched over to another long distance provider (no, I'm not going to name the company).

I pay my bill with them (usually around $200 a month) now. I'm not paying AT&T and they have sicced a collection agency on me. My credit is already $hit, so the usual threats don't really bother me. The collection agency calls daily to ask when I plan on paying my bil, how I spend my money, etc.

I'm actually beginning to enjoy my daily repartee with AT&T's torpedo -- "Good morning! No, I am not paying you today! Goodbye!"

I would have been happy to pay my bill with AT&T had they not run an unauthorized credit check and arbitrarily decided to shut down my long distance. I could pay this bill today, if I wanted.

As far as I'm concerned, AT&T and it's hired guns can kiss my a$$. Do your worst, toadies and flunkies! I AIN'T PAYING !!!

I recently had a issue similar to both yours only mine was with a collection agency for fashion bug for a credit payment of 45.00 i became disabled and was also barely making it the woman said i should have thought about that prior to getting the card Keep in mind the card was gotten 7 years ago by my ex but that is another story anyway i got so sick of their daily threats from this place i did some research and quoted the laws and correct methods of collection and informed them i would like their mailing address to have my lawyer contact them i have heard Nothing since If you do a search you can find the same list about collection methods and illegal harassment and use it to your advantage they Only do this if in fact you do NOT know your rights Once they see you do know them they back off really fast Good luck

i got at&t long distance service a few monthes ago. well after $50.00 was used on it they cut it off. well just recently i started having seizures and i am not able to work or drive. i am a single mother and it has been really rough. well one morning the phone rang and i answered it. this lady got on the phone and started telling me i needed to pay my bills. i explained to her that right now i am disabled and under a doctor's care. i told her i could barely pay my utilities. she then asked me who pays your bills for you? i told her that my church had really been helping me out alot. she then said well the church needs to pay this bill. i told her you are upsetting me and my seizures are onset by stress and she said i dont care. i then told her i was going to pray for her and she said oh really that is good. i then asked for her supervisor. well then he got on the phone and said we just need to know when you are going to pay this bill. i told him i have no income. he said post date a check. i said with what i have no income. he then hung up in my face. i dont appreciate them at all. they were so unprofessional. i beleive someone owes me an apology!!!!!!
