Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Toyota has issued a recall for Toyotas because of the problem with engine oil consumption. What happens is you go in to a Toyota dealership and they do an oil change then they seal the dipstick, oil filler, and oil pan drain plug. after the 1100-1300 miles you go back in and they open it up and pour a quart of oil in and if the oil reached the full mark on the dipstick then you pass the test, if not you fail and then they have to rebuild or replace your engine. Well here is the issue that I have with Autonation Toyota Pinellas Park.

When I received the letter in the mail I made an appointment to have the test done and followed all of the instructions. My Toyota was using up a rediculous amount of oil and one time there was no oil whatsoever on the dipstick. I learned that the problem was caused by bad pistons. When I brought the car back in to get the results I asked them if I can see the oil level on the dipstick when they removed it and they told me no one is allowed in the service department and said I would have to wait for about two hours. Finally they told me my car passed the test and that they would not be rebuilding the engine because it used the required amount of oil within the mileage. I asked the service manager how did they conduct the test and he said they put in one quart of oil and then run the car for about one hour and then check the oil level again. I said thats rediculous and why couldn't they just check the dipstick and see where the oil level was at in the beginning. He also said to me we want your car to fail the test because we make money rebuilding your engine.

What a scam, there is a conflict of interest because they represent Toyota and work for them and are making sure the cars pass the test. I was told I can have the test done again in a couple of months and maybe then it would fail. It was about 1500 miles later that I was going out of town and decided toi check the oil to be safe and sure enough the dipstick was bone dry. I brought the car in like I did before and had the oil changed and drove it for 1100 miles and it passed the test again and now the deadline for the recall was expiring in a couple of months.

Its really frustrating to know that you purchased a car that was recognized for being a car that can get tons of mileage and just about run forever. Make all of your car payments on time and pay it off only to have a lemon. Please be aware of this dealership and their trustworthiness. They will lie to your face and say they are on your side when thats so untrue!
